Code S is not that high level this season. You got 12 players competing for royal roaders this season. Code S definitely is not the highest level of competition anymore, I would say IEM has better player line ups nowadays.

Nobody is even talking about "nowadays" here, they are talking about it being the best back then, and it was. Code S pretty much was the highest level of competition all through the 2013, and I am not even sure if it isn't right now.

If you subtract all the players in the lineup for the last IEM that are either in code S or fell out in Code B you are left with
HerO, Polt, ForGG, Jjakji, Jaedong, MC, Stardust, Patience, Violet, Hyun, and San.
I love these players to death but I don't think that is more stacked than Code S.

At most there are 11 players in the world not in the WCS KR system that could play at the Code S level: Stardust, ForGG, Hero, Jaedong, Polt, Taeja, San, Jjakji, MC, MMA and Bomber.
Even then I'd argue neither MMA nor Bomber could have gotten to Code S this season anyway.
GSL is still the epitome of skill.
