When he is not personally involved, it feels like he is fascinated by the cheesy players. It's quite entertaining IdrA did say he hoped Scarlett would win the whole thing.

i identify with her frustration, it's not just that protoss can cheese but that they have so many options for it... i try goofy aggressive builds against p/t all the time and it's practically autolose if the opponent gets up sufficient tech

at least better than MC, elfi, and Stardust since those are all protoss, that way we know there's no error in matchup skill difference

idk man the frustrating thing is it's not even like hitman did anything innovative, he just perfected a lot of cheeses and it worked. we all know that scarlett would beat hitman in tryhard mode if they played 100 games or whatever, and we all know the protoss builds already, so the entire series was just "is she going to play sloppy enough to let this work," and it did work

Yeah I agree, and it's the reason why, even if Hitman did win this tournament, I'm not sure that any team would want to pick him up the way Kane's career launched after he won the last Shoutcraft. You don't really prove your mettle as a player when you adopt this playstyle.
Oh the other side, Scarlett needs to realize that playing "safe" doesn't mean blindly turtling and teching on two bases. I don't think she morphed a single scouting overseer in that entire series, so she sort of deserved to lose that one.

i've been seeing scarlett do well with 2/2 mass muta in zvt... do koreans do this a lot? is this becoming the meta? it seems really really strong because of the way you can force the terran to turtle and bleed out or attack and potentially lose a base race

It was easily his but going with 1/2 units vs 3/3 is a huge difference. It takes Zerglings 12 hits to kill a Marine with that difference in upgrades, hence why banelings were so vital for him in those engagements.

Well it's nice to see masa again, I remember back on nightmares going "this kid seems pretty good" but after a bit on root he seemed to go quiet again so it's good to see him back.

well the point is that his style forces him to look for those engagements, because he has to be trading or he gets badly outscaled. that leaves it on the terran to defend efficiently, which i dislike compared to more economic zvt's.

that's a pretty good point actually. i still kind of feel there were a couple of unnecessary "throw" moments, the one i'm mostly thinking of is when kane was defending his east side fourth base where iirc the engagement was pretty much over and he ran what looked like 6-8 banelings into a couple of widow mine shots chasing marines or something. and then of course when he flew the mutas over marines, but imo the collapse had already started by them
kane had a big gas bank, i know infestors are normally weak against bio but do you think they could have been a viable way to mitigate the scaling problem in that specific game rather than spending a lot of time getting hive and 3/3? especially because i noticed masa had very very few medivacs to heal through fungal DPS

He qualified for NASL4 and had a pretty decent run and managed to stay in NASL (Before ded tournament ) as well as some pretty good team league wins chalked up for root. He was able to beat alive, hasuobs and ret during the regular season of NASL4.

I think it's pretty weird that half the lineup in this tournament played either from Europe or from other subpar conditions (being sick, from LAN). I mean I get that it's an online tournament and that's just how things are, but still.

I guess so. Still, it was pretty sad when no one ever answered Naniwa's offers on Twitter back then. Like when Stephano avoided the match because he likes his money more than his pride.
Awesome tournament despite the forfeits, Idra and Totalbiscuit are a good combo and I do hope both cast some other tournaments soon! especially Idra, he showed an amazing knowledge of the game even in matches that didnt have a zerg player at all.

Also, how was the tournament, I didn't get to see any of it. Both in quality and in viewer numbers?
Numbers seemed good, I often saw it hover at around 20k. Games weren't the best (hitman lived up to his reputation and cheesed everything that moved and kane semi-sloppily gave a series away vs masa) but it was pretty entertaining on the whole.
