SC2Improve Winter League 2013/2014

Welcome to the SC2Improve Winter League 2013/2014! One year ago we ran our first Winter League, which was a follow on from the Summer League 2012 and it went amazingly when it had over 200 players competing for places in the RO16! But since then the rise of SC2Improve events has continued and we are going into our second Winter League event following the hugely successful Summer League 2013 where over 700 players took part in trying to qualify for the RO16 including players such as Qxc, Tefel, JonnyREcco and others.

With so much support there was no doubt the Winter League was going to feature again and here it is! Already we have seen all six qualifiers for this years Winter League and the RO16 Groups are now set! Dates for the groups will be announced in the coming week or so.

We hope everyone has a bunch of fun taking part in the SC2Improve Winter League and if you ever have any concerns or have any questions please feel free to get in touch with us either here on Team Liquid or by e-mail at sc2improve@gmail.com

Format and Dates

Six qualifiers will be held. The winner of each qualifier will qualify to the RO16 of the Winter League. The two players who played in the Winter League Launch Show Match will also qualify to the RO16.

This leaves 8 open places. These will be determined through a points system within Qualifiers. Placing highly will gain you more points and after all 6 qualifiers the top 8 players on points will qualify into the RO16.

The RO16 will be made up of four GSL-Style groups, meaning two players will advance from each group to give us our RO8. From the RO8 it will be a single elimnation BO5 bracket, with a BO7 Finals.

Hey guys!

To get some low-leaguers involved in the Winter League we're going to be introducing a raffle system! Every time a Diamond or below player enters into a Qualifier, Checks In and plays a match they will receive a 'ticket'. Each ticket will be one entry into a raffle for a mouse-pad or some other prize (yet to be determined). This means if you enter into all the qualifiers you have 6 chances to win!

On the day it will be advertised somewhere to message to let us know you have entered and are in Diamond and below and from this you will receive confirmation of your ticket.

Last night was pretty awesome! A lot of upsets in the early rounds but some great games throughout nonetheless! We saw

Adonminus, last years Winter League Champion, lose 1-2 to

BurNing in the Finals which included a crazy base trade with a last minute twist in Game 1!

Congratulations to BurNing who joins Tefel and uThermal in the RO16 of the Winter League.

Is there a chance you can get a co caster? While your casting was fine I find that having 2 casters make for better viewing experience than 1 caster.

Standard procedure was followed for the case. Single time warning before removing player from the tournament and future tournaments. You can say we do not care if you like and you can say nothing will happen in future if he does it again if you like but I feel it's pretty harsh to call me out on this based on no former experience with SC2Improve...

JonnyREcco take first place with a 2-0 victory over

SeleCT, qualifying him for the RO16 of the main event. Was a great bunch of fun again with an absolutely stacked bracket so thanks to everyone who took part and made it a blast!

This should not reflect badly on GoOdy at all. What his opponent said was extremely out of line in the second match of a BO3. It was 1-1 when GoOdy forfeited.

Qualifier #3 finished with our first Protoss player qualifying for the RO16 - Alien Invasion's

Patience! He made a name for himself when he qualified for Dreamhack Winter and went on an amazing run taking down numerous top tier players on his way. I can't express how excited I am to see him take part in the Winter League! With his recent move into the Alien Invasion team house in Germany he will pose a serious threat to take the whole Winter League.

If you missed Qualifier #3 you can catch the Finals and our Game of the Week right here on the SC2Improve Youtube. The VODs include Patience vs GraVe and Patience vs Adonminus (a bunch of PvPs!)
