Looks like a pretty weak line-up.
It is going to be the 3 Koreans trying to get top place.

Keep in mind that WCGs are not always 1st-2nd-3rd sweeps for Koreans, and in SC2 they actually never have been. For whatever reason both the Koreans who didn't win somewhat underperformed in both of the last two years. And NEVER 4GET hewhoshantbenamed vs. Parting! Upsets are always possible, though of course I hope a Korean still wins to continue the streak.

This tournament is probably a foreigner's best chance to win a premier.

Yeah but who decides to give two slots to Jordan? Maybe it was two slots for the whole middle east or something like this.

I know why we have 2 slots.....and it aint a good reason

aside from what I have in my mind , each country can send up to 3

Yeah right, because that is exactly how WCS EU looks like: Infested by players without liquipedia entries just behind the handful of invading Koreans.

Why are there three south koreans participating? It would be tough for anybody else to win even if there was just one.

How did they choose which players are representing Korea? It seems like a really random selection...

They need 3, to make sure, to win this thing. 2011 Titan knocked out Supernova early and MKP fell to Kas in the quarterfinals, 2012 Lowely knocked out Yonghwa and MKP. Same thing in ESWC and Iesf, where there were foreign world champions in both years. 3 Koreans seems to be the magic number, to make sure, the tournament gets won.

Right, since there seems to be quite a bit of confusion about how the WCG system works I'll explain it.

First of all, WCG obviously tries to be "the olympics of esports", this means that the only paid finishes are the top 3 in each tournament and that there is a cap on how many players every country can send in each game. For single player games this has almost always been capped at three players per country. In 2002 boxer was qualified automatically as the reigning champion which meant South Korea had 4 representatives in brood war, boxer went on to defend his title.

Second, the WCG do NOT organize their own qualifiers and do NOT pay for travel or accomodation for the players, this means that if there is a lack of local/national sponsors, there will not be a qualifier. Almost all qualifiers have been always been national, with participation limited to citizens of the country hosting the qualifier, there have been a few instances of regional qualifiers iirc, for instance the nordic region had a single qualifier where all five countries competed for a single spot in the Counter-Strike tournament a few years back.

So, the reason that some really obscure countries are represented in SC2 and brood war is that there is at least one person with more money than sense who is ready to fork out a few grand for the plane ticket and hotel room. Historically, this has always been the case in brood war and SC2, for instance in 2006 the following countries sent players in brood war:

Colombia, Uzbekistan (he made it out of the group), Vietnam, Philipines, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Slovakia, Moldova, Ireland, Serbia, Hungary and Croatia. How many decent SC2 players from these countries can you name ? No players from the nordic region or benelux was there to compete.

Organizing the qualifiers in this fashion may have made some sense +10 years ago when there where very few players with sponsors willing to send them halfway around the world, today it makes very little sense. A way to solve this would be to have a qualifier without paid accomodation, so that players with sponsors or who are willing to pay for their own tickets still can participate if there is a lack of local sponsors. WCG also needs to get with the times and have smaller groups with BO3 instead of BO1 and change to a flatter payout structure, if there is a $50k prize pool there really is no reason to only have three paid places.
