Oz, this is your time to get a tournament win. You just have to beat probably the best Zerg in the world, then make the finals so you can play either the best Protoss in the world or the best Terran in the world. You got this.

To be fair, Soulkey is 0-2 against Protoss in this event so far while Oz is 2-1 against Zerg.

0-2 in this event, 7-1 in WCS KR S3 :D

Yeah, but all those ZvPs are from like a month ago... A lot can change in this amount of time. :D

Just checked. 5 of them are from 2 months ago, 3 from 1 month ago. lol

Also Oz is 6-1 in PvZ in WCS AM S3. Oz 8-2, Soulkey 7-3. Oz > Soulkey?

Naniwa fans are about to cry. Thank god i hate Naniwa.

Think I'll cry more for Soulkey losing to someone as mediocre as Oz

They only compare the wcs points within top 16 because it's just for seeding. There's no reason you have to play extra match if you're already in.
On the other hand, it's important for 16/17th place. It's the matter of in and out. Every point counts. Extra match is the best way to sort it out. If they compare the wcs points, it's unfair and it belittles other Tier 1 tourneys like DH and IEM.
Having said that, I want Naniwa and Revival both out. Places for Trap and Dear.

I would personally argue that there's an unfair advantage for players who have the funding and support to go to events like DH and IEM (ex. Taeja) whereas lesser known players or players in financially strapped teams (ex. maru) would have trouble flying to these events.

Though, I get the idea that those tournaments should be worth something which I agree. Maybe a little less than what they are worth now since a large portion of the player pool isn't able to play. Though Blizzard already made the points less than WCS so my argument would be more of how much each tournament should be worth and that's extremely subjective.

Oh wells. It is what it is.

IMO, that's quite fair. It's the players' problems (or teams' problem) if they can or cannot participate in certain tourneys. It's not the fault of the system. Those tournaments were open to anyone willing to participate, only the teams don't want to or can't send their players. So it's actually unfair if you reduce the worth of the tournaments in term of points rewarded because "large portion of the player pool isn't able to play"

Even though there is a Terran left I want Dear or Oz to take this whole thing. But I expect Byul to atleast make it to the finals.

OK, so if we put aside the whole Naniwa thing for a mount, let's have a look at the Ro8 from a longer perspective than just this season: it's acutally a pretty surprising lineup. The only seriously established top players in here are Maru and Soulkey. Obviously, MC and MMA are long time champions, but both of them are players with very unstable results. And the rest? Oz, Dear, Trap, ByuL - is there anyone who would predict these four to be where they are half a year ago? People are complaining about seeing the same players over and over, but the competition is actually pretty fresh.

On a different note, if Soulkey and Trap win, WCS KR will be 4/4 fin Ro4 for the first time (it was 3/4 and 2/4 before).

Well, the jump of Dear was unexpected to be THAT fast but what happened, that happened, Trap have shown alot of potential in his OSL Ro16 group, including storm drops and just barely lost to SuNo on fire.
ByuL just demonstrates how many talent Korea has. Hell, once he passed qualifier he went on to get runner up spot in WCS AM final, losing only to CapAmerica.

There isn't even an argument to be had about this issue. It is a fact that it is unfair. The only way it's fair is when you change the nature of the competition to include means for travel. That is, if we wanted the champion to be someone who is not only good at SC2 but also good at traveling the world, then it'd be fair to test their ability to travel the world. As long as the purpose of our competitions is SC2, it is unfair when travel becomes an overwhelming factor.

Keep in mind guys, if Soulkey win against Oz, then Trap and ByuL are set to not win finals (Soulkey curse, lol).

I'm sad that most of this thread will be about Naniwa, as opposed to the awesome players who are actually playing in this tournament :/
