Polt and Bomber are my favorite Terrans, but to be fair I don't think their TvZ is quite on the level of say Flash, never mind Innovation. I'm pretty sure soulkey would annihilate bomber on anything but newkirk. His ZvT is ridicolously scary, its just that he's constantly being put up against innovation.

Life is still sick good at ZvT though, his last bo5/bo7 loss is over a year ago and he's still at 69% since HotS. But pretty much every Zerg besides Soulkey/Scarlett/Life seem to be unable to handle this new terran style, while macro terrans seem really comfortable (Polt, Bomber, Innovation, Flash, Taeja). Any TvZ not involving those 8 players still seem to be pretty balanced, Jaedong doesn't even have a bad record against Terran overall. He mostly needs to figure out how to deal with this parade pushing when it's done right. Soulkey defends godly, Scarlett engages godly and Life all-ins godly, so together they should be able to come up with a way to win ^^

BOMBERRRRRRRRRRR!
:D
He finally did it! I'm so sad he's going to retire now and have to uphold the law.
I feel bad for Jaedong though, so sad. Completely turned his ZvP around and then gets 4-0'd again and another 2nd place...

Couldn't watch these finals. So my question is: How have these finals been the best? Liquipedia results are looking quite boring, no major upsets (Taeja/Rain maybe), one sided final and one one sided semi final combined with a TvT semi final. I don't see anything exciting there. Outstanding games, superb production, fan favorites, lots of upsets (Hi Innovation) and foreigners not getting completely stomp all help has there been a foreign Terran in it? Terran still get completely stomped by koreans, why aren't there any good foreigner terrans in it? Or is it harder to reach that level with terran than it is with Z or P as we see repeatedly Z or P foreigners to "upset" but not terrans?
Not asking about balance, it seems about "fine" when it comes to korean players, but still hoping for a terran foreigner to have his breakthrough soon... (waiting for this for years now...)On August 26 2013 06:12 Neemi wrote:Show nested quote +On August 26 2013 05:51 calh wrote:On August 26 2013 05:24 Zinthar wrote: I like Jaedong, but saw the 4:0 incoming the moment that he moved on. Or is there a certain randomness involved that makes it so hard to predict that even the best players can fall to a not so good player (which would be a shame, since the game should award the best player not a random factor)

That's like the third time someone's brought up that series. I'm not going to judge a player based off one set sorry, but SK is still pretty frigging scary when it comes to ZvT even with the slew of loses against Bogus. He still makes it look close.
EDIT: Come to think of it I think the guy had an Axiom logo too. Maybe it was you all along heh. Yep, twas.

I think SK would smash Bomber. But I also wonder how well he could metagame(?) his way to victory against SK with WoL-esque strategies. He really has an astonishing compendium of strategies in his head that he's been pulling out recently.

Just watched last game of the final, didn't see anything else of it today but can we please stop with interviewing people right after they win a fucking tournament. Interview them AFTER the ceremony... Sexy looking confetti tho, they nailed that but other then that was a pretty depressing award ceremony. Guess it was a 'ok' event from what i saw.
Oh, you win and then you have to walk down and get the trophy yourself? Sjees.. lazy, lazy Redeye! (really dumbest thing i've ever seen)

Wow just check out the VODs. What amazing play from Bomber mixing in all those different builds, I feel bad for Jaedong, not exactly sure what he was supposed to do in some of those situations. Hopefully Blizzard does some tinkering and gives a slight buff to Zerg mid-game so they aren't bottlenecked into muta/ling/bane.

Does Bomber not being able to make it to Blizzcon count as a disappointment?

Polt has had quite some troubles against Revival where he just can't push forward vs muta/ling/bling defense, and in some of the games vs JD by all rights he should have lost if JD hadn't messed up.
Bomber's only recent TvZ wins were against Scarlett and JD, and he looked good but not imba by any means. Against Scarlett in particular he took a lot of poor trades (like again and again in the last game), and I don't think Scarlett's control was exceptional in those engagements either. She had the right mix of numbers and good initial positioning, but Bomber's marine control was somewhat lacking, often running into walls or standing still after the initial split (for an extreme comparison, see Inno's continous split and run during Soulkey's flank at 6 o'clock in his last WCG qualifier game).
If Revival and Scarlett can do it, I think zergs like Leenock or Hyun certainly has the mechanics to pull it off (most probably Roro as well, but I haven't watched enough of his games to say). Flash and especially Innovation do seem a bit broken in this matchup, but the other Terran are pretty beatable for the top zergs.
