I really don't see Puck having a chance to upset and get out of the group. Snute and Jaedong will advance for sure. But I really hope Puck advances. I mean I know what Jaedong stands for and stuff, but I don't want him to advance in the WCS AM.
I know a lot of people will be expecting Snute/Jaedong, but with the match order, what if we saw something like Jaedong > Snute Macsed > puCK Macsed > Jaedong
Then you would lose one of the fan favorite zergs D:

Ow, I'm so sad that Jaedong has to be eliminated that fast. Sorry guys...
Edit: actually with the first game being the ZvZ JD might get through. This is the best set-up for the group, ZvP + ZvP would have been easier to predict.
i feel like snute has gotten better and better, and macsed is pretty underrated. i think snute/jaedong will be close but that puck will strugge against Macsed
MacSed's PvZ isn't very consistent, if he's on his day I'd say he can knock down Jaedong, but I think he will have trouble dealing with Snute. Ah such a hard group to predict, still going for Snute and MacSed I guess.

If he knows some good 2 base all ins he probably has a decent shot of taking out Jaedong

I wonder if the singular "they" would be a good fit for this kind of situations. Most languages don't play nice with the modern concept of gender.

Linguistically, we would use "they," in English because we don't have a case for the singular personal pronoun which is genderless. "They," for those of you who are interested is actually plural but we use it for individual people.

I'll just use the name of the person in those cases. Not the best thing stylistic, but I am not good at that anyway.

I just can't fathom the choice for the second robo over a stargate. That you start with colo to secure a third seems fine but with the near perfect scouting a hallucination every minute gives you it just seems to me responding with tempests is so easy and just a must. If one player 1 robo colossi + tempests versus the others 2 robo colossi i feel it's just a big advantage. Sure you have some extra infrastructure costs because the fleet beacon is 300/200 but the composition advantage is worth it imo. Defenders advantage in colo wars should be enough to get a proper tempest count out before the colo player maxes imo and the player going tempests has a far stronger 200/200 composition.

bad move from macsed trying to harass at the third while fighting the big battle at the same time. That sort of moves usually lose you the game in PvP because winning the big fight is everything and having 20~ supply less there is huge. With his upgrade advantage he still got even and is ahead now but it would have lost him the game if he wasn't so far ahead. Bad PvP series, these guys seem to lack a proper understanding of the matchup and play so passive, not even warp prism harass..

Hah!
*Nice control by puck btw. DTs are proving to be the strongest in PvP it seems. Allows you to challenge your opponents multitask and it's a pretty strong Hail Mary in the big fights.
Terrible mistakes by Macsed throwing away a won game.
Get's ahead quite a big because puck throws away 10 stalkers and goes single forge vs double forge in a strange WoL like double robo game. Then Macsed fails to win with his first 200/200 fight because he has stalkers harassing the 3rd during that fight. Still super far ahead afterwards because the fight was even and he is in a big economic lead. Instead of attacking directly around 180-190 pop he goes up to 200 afterwards and gives puck the time to get there too.. Poor positioning in fight has him doing poorly but he still seems to edge it out based on bigger bank and better upgrades but loses observers to sloppy control and 4 dt nudge the fight towards puck...
Macsed just learn to push right at 200/200, not get there first, slowly move towards your opponent, wait for proxy pylon and only then attack with even poor positioning. Better yet if you're ahead just mix in tempests.. You avoid the slight gamble that are colossi wars where you can even lose if you're far ahead..

And this is why I hate MSL style groups. If one player has a bad or good match-up, it has the potential to lead to really bizarre results if the opening match-ups pit the two best players on paper against each other..

Well if jaedong can identify which all in is coming I think he'll hold possibly. Really depends I can see that voidray/immortal all in puck likes to do beat jaedong cause I don't think anyone on korea does that ever.
Seems like Jaedong studied Snute before this match. Snute went for his, according to himself, "imba" +1 16 roach timing while securing his third. Jaedong did a perfect counterbuild, having just enough to hold off the attack without taking too much damage.

If I were to argue against this I would say that there aren't bizarre results, there are just results.
I hope puCK prepared some nice 2 base all ins. He might have a shot that way. Jaedong got crushed by Creator's in the IEM qualifiers and looked pretty lost against them and Creator hasn't exactly looked too good in HoTS

He will only show up if puCK somehow beats Jaedong and then Snute beats Jaedong 2-1 in the final series. Then he will be like OMG BUT JAEDONG WAS 3-2 VS SNUTE THIS IS BULLSHIT

Maybe. Can't say I'm overly familiar with his PvZ but he did manage to beat HyuN in the WCS AM qualifiers so I guess there's a shot even if it's not very large

No, when he first attacked with a severely delayed two base all in that was scouted, twice. Jaedong played that pretty poorly in terms of the engagement, running into his mineral line. I'd say puCK got pretty lucky that he did that, but played it brilliantly once Jaedong gave away that advantage.

Dong was way to greedy vs a 2 base all in. 69 drones is a death sentence vs a player at your own skill level.

That was like 89, it'd be quite the feat to get less votes than that.

I think he could have held that pretty easy had he sat around the rocks in a big arc and not run into his mineral line and up that ramp. He allowed puCK to get through the choke and then have the concave when he was allowed to force field. Not very well positioned by JD.

The game was fun and entertaining but it was also crappy play by Jaedong that made it exciting. Puck played well, but does that mean the game was a 5? Sure I'd recommend it to people who want a close game but not to anyone who wants to watch good play.

I prefer the yes/no/"if you have the time" options to be honest. 5 star system seem kind of too arbitrary

I'm more curious about which progamer can throw the farthest. Looks like Tefel still King Quarterback
Tefel, MacSed, and Nestea have been invited to the all star game.
I think Bly wins. In a little watched game in the RSL, he had Bomber down to 0 SCVs and managed to lose the game. He had like 50 supply with at least 25 drones to Bomber's 16 supply of army.
Someone really needs to tell Mr.Bitters that DerilEECT is a fictional clothing line in a Ben Stiller movie, and derilICT is the state of the watcher on that map.

And Happy will be coming out of retirement to finally play in something he can win, by losing.
Reminds me of that King of Kongs tournament that GOM held(?) once, too bad I didn't pay more attention to it.
I now have three showmatches I want to see:
The 4v4 team of Elfi, Inca, Goody and Life against Innovation, Soulkey, Flash and Rain.
The throwing contest of Tefel, MacSed, Nestea, and Happy.
The Injustice league FFA featuring Hyvaa, Shine, Sniper, Bubbles, and TheBest. Surprise cameos by Hongun and Bitbybit. Inca was also playing, but no one noticed.

I want to believe.
rooting against Jaedong is Forbidden.
I'm more curious about which progamer can throw the farthest. Looks like Tefel still King Quarterback
Tefel, MacSed, and Nestea have been invited to the all star game.
A ton of Snute's games look like this, with the quick viper (well didn't see the timing but at least semi-quick viper :D), into just rolling these type of armies that can't really deal with this. If I were to play Snute I'd prepare something to be ready for vipers way sooner, I'm sort of disappointed that no one seems to do it.

Wow, what an upset. Snute, Hero, and TLO who all advanced pass the round of 32 all fail to advance in season 2. Holy moly. What is happening to Team Liquid.
When Jaedong won that match against Puck I thought there's no way you can win a game in a more ugly fashion than that. After seeing the last game of MacSed V Snute... I was wrong.
Those last 2 games are why forcefields need to be changed. They effect the games way too much. snute made mistakes but there is no coming back from pushes like that.
Seems like Team Liquid is in a slump. Zenio fail to qualify for WCS AM Challenger league. He attempted 4 times and failed all times. TLO gets knocked off in the round of 32. Same with Hero and now Snute. What is happening to the organization o.o.

His lack of scouting cost him the game, not the force fields. Plus, he attacked directly into the timewarps, when he could have maneuvered his army.

Yeah, but TL's dota team is in a major slump, too. Just feel like it's something to do with the organization. We haven't seen any recent recruitments to the SC2 squad. It just feels like TL has stagnated. Their needs to be fresh blood or a shake up.

Personally I'm surprised Zenio is still even marginally relevant in SC2, and as for TLO I think it's very harsh to note one poor performance after a string of great achievements. Hero and Snute's exit have genuinely surprised me I have to say. On the flip side Taeja is currently on a tare again and Ret unexpectedly got through a pretty hard group to make the RO16. Wouldn't contribute any of that to a TL slump personally.

Zenio isn't relevant, it's just his blue shirt ensures that he isn't just some code B noob but some known code B noob.

I think TLO and Snute's losses were pretty unexpected because many people had them as prime candidates as the "world's best foreigner" after Stephano has slowly backed away from the spotlight.

and what did they do to fungal? and infestors were higher up the tech tree. Your reasoning is because fungal was op that it's ok for forcefields to be op now. It doesn't matter. unitl they change forcefields we'll keep watching 8+ sentry pushes that are too strong and no real negative to doing. sounds a lot like infestor bloord to me.

oh noes a spellcaster and their correct energy management deciding if the player wins or lose. Reminds me of a game that had a matchup were the only aim of one side was to throw stuff at the opponent until the spellcasters were out of energy before they were out of bases and then proceed to crush them. Wait I remember It was PvZ in BW.
and what did they do to fungal? and infestors were higher up the tech tree. Your reasoning is because fungal was op that it's ok for forcefields to be op now. It doesn't matter. unitl they change forcefields we'll keep watching 8+ sentry pushes that are too strong and no real negative to doing. sounds a lot like infestor bloord to me.
8+ sentry pushes aren't that hard to defend as long as you scout properly and aren't so frickin greedy. Also there are negatives such as lack of tech and tons of wasted gas.

It starts with the fact that in 1776 America won freedom from European domination by allying itself with another part of Europe. This plays up the fact that most Americans have no idea about history or geography and the parody of that.
Then the next joke double downs on that parody with mistaking Leif Eriksson for an Englishman and marrying that to a holiday about getting food from Native Americans and slaughtering them afterwards.
The third joke compounds that three fold at the ridiculous imagery of Benjamin Franklin and Qianlong playing a game invented 150 years after their death, thus securing China's aide in a battle that happened 10 years before Beer pong was invented. And China wasn't even in the battle.

You can tell the difference in expectations too lol, in spl with stats he already had sentries prepared and everyone already assumes it's not going to work, here bitterdam is really really pleasantly surprised that puck had the presence of mind to forcefield T.T e: and yeah it was a lack of energy from ffing w/o enough time in between

Yea, he ran out. Unless he timed his ff's a bit better, not much more he could have done beyond pylon blocking.

He was forcefielding way to quickly. He could have spaced them out, but I guess he was nervous or something.
I didn't watch SC2 when Inca was relevant. Did people love him or hate him?
My understanding was:
*In INCA's head*
> I DT rush every game > opponent sees me to DT rush every game > Therefore they won't expect me to DT rush THIS game because I'm so predictable > LOL DT RUSH > Uh-oh I'm dead against NesTea. > Do it again, he won't expect it four times in a row > NesTea did > 4-0 NesTea

Hated him as he denied possibly the greatest SC2 finals in WoL as we would have had Nada vs Nestea.
Eventually that hated turned into apathy as he got 4-0'd into the ground and eventually grew into a humorous caricature as he would make dt after dt after dt in every one of his games. The best part was he did just good enough to make actual Protosses around the world think his strategy of forever using DTs was a solid and relevant one.
hey guys hope you enjoyed the show, to confirm during the last game after puck warped in the 3 sentries, he did run out of energy and was 8 gas short of getting a 4th sentry or enough energy on 1 of the other ones, i should have noticed that immediately, just thought puck was Save and I didnt pay attention O_O, hope it was fine besides that, I had a lot of fun today gn!

Is that why Protoss never wins major Korean titles? Can it all be traced back to one man?

Yea, MC and Inca. oGsProtoss were the only relevant Protosses back then and the two of them convinced the entire world that all-ins and DTs were the only ways for Protoss to win. By the time Creator got good enough/Rain switched over, there were no more chances as the infestor buff was in place and Mvp was too godlike.

The best part was he did just good enough to make actual Protosses around the world think his strategy of forever using DTs was a solid and relevant one.
Is that why Protoss never wins major Korean titles? Can it all be traced back to one man?
Yea, MC and Inca. oGsProtoss were the only relevant Protosses back then and the two of them convinced the entire world that all-ins and DTs were the only ways for Protoss to win. By the time Creator got good enough/Rain switched over, there were no more chances as the infestor buff was in place.
Come to think of it, I don't know if I can remember more than a handful of times Rain actually all in'd. Creater was the one who developed three base colossi in PvT or something?
I didn't watch SC2 when Inca was relevant. Did people love him or hate him?

Creator standardized double forge play into 3 base collosus. Rain basically took all of Creator's buids as a basis. Or he would make dts and die to Mvp. Thanks Inca!

It was a love/hate relationship as some people said. Funny shit like InCa finishing off Puzzle in a GSTL acematch with DTs when everyone in the thread was like PLEASE RUSH TO DETECTION and he died anyways. Sad shit like the finals. Funny stuff when he won an up and down group going DT every game. etc...

Rain all-ins rarely, but when he does it it's almost as if he is intentionally trying to be unpredictable. Such a tryhard lol
I keep thinking it was Creator who invented 3nexus into 8gate all-in but I believe it was Parting. Not sure if anyone in particular developed 3base PvT or if it was just a result of the metagame shifting to safer, macro oriented builds.

It was NaNiwa while staying at the ST house and PartinG stole it and used it first in a televised match D:

Parting* made 1gate 3 neuxs into 8 gate. No one can ever pinpoint when it became better to get to 3base, but I believe a large part of it had to do with the Parting vs Jjakji series in Parting's first ever Code S.

*Though Naniwa made it in the practice house.
Those were some sick fucking games too. Up there for some of the best TvPs of the year. Would have been topped by MarineKing vs PartinG except... that one thing...

Well, long ago PvP was truly very volatile, and a lot of games came down to 4 gate vs 4 gate defense. So because the mirror matchup was so volatile, a lot of good Protosses had difficulty making it deep in tournaments.
Then in mid-late 2011, we had the 1-1-1, which led to the near extinction of Protoss in the top levels. With so many Terrans in Code S, just staying in Code S as a Protoss was an achievement (not to mention a lot of Zergs were doing well against Protoss around this time too. Coca for example had a 100% winrate against Protoss in the GSL in 2011).
In 2010 and 2011, the two major Protosses to really win anything were MC and Huk (Puzzle won a Code A, Naniwa did pretty well at a few MLGs, and Hero won Dreamhack at the end of the year). Then again, considering it all, it's not all that surprising.
