1) They go into the season with tons of hype and why they're going to succeed
2) They start off the gate with a bang and everyones like "OMG WE'RE GONNA BE SO GOOD"
3) Then we get crushed into pieces by the top teams but we manage to beat down a top team now and then to give a glimmer of hope.
4) Then we acquire a player or two, we hype them up tremendously, they make immediate dividends and we're like "OMG WE'RE TURNING A CORNER! WE'RE SO AWESOME!"
5) They go back down-to-earth and reveal themselves as mediocre players +We go back to sucking
6) Then we go on a massive losing streak.
7) Then when we're out of the playoff contention, we start winning every non-relevant game as if it matters
8) Glimmer of hope and they go into the next season with tons of hype and why they're going to succeed
9) Rinse and Repeat.
