Mvp is a great player and he deserved to win, still i find it a bit odd that non europeans can compete in the non open european championship. If mvp was naturalised to beeing french or german then it would be a different story but he is still korean isnt he? Or was the tournament an open tourney and could basicly annyone join? Well annyway, great tourney and thank you for all the games ![]()

For me it is all about "Who is going to represent Europe in the finals". We have three europeans, one korean who lives in europe and has to be considered part of the european scene by now and MVP. Overall a pretty good showing and nothing we have to be ashamed of. These things aside. I want to thank ESL for hosting this marvelous tournament. The production was flawless, the organisation seemed stellar (overall low downtime, reliable timers on how long the pauses are going to take), the casting was enjoyable and the hosting one of the, if not THE best possible (ReDeYe is pretty much the epitome of professional, yet likeable/laid back host).

MVP was one of the few top consistent players in WoL. He won and showed Terran can still win while Zerg and Protoss were dominating. Sad to see that he never got his 5 championship GSL trophy (he was so close too against Life, losing only 3-4) but as long as he continues playing, maybe someday he can achieve something similar (I assume at this point I don't think MVP will return to WCS Korea to play in the GSL anymore, which is a bit sad since he was so close to getting that 5 time GSL trophy, but as long as he does well still outside of the GSL, I'm fine with that I guess). Edit - Also as for the whole "a Korean now represents EU" problem, someone made a good post in regards to this in another thread IMO. There's no reason to prevent some of the best players of the world competing in the world finals just because they're Korean and we have to save some spots for the poor little Europeans/Americans. Last year's WCS were just a joke, with dudes like Levin, Insur, Mafia or State and no Life, Leenock, MVP... just because we had to make it "fair" spotwise. Do not mistake equality and equity. Equality is unfair: the truth is, Koreans are superior. Equity is giving everyone the same chance, and allowing the best to rise. That's what's happening right now. Great decision-making by Blizzard, and may those who rage about it use their brains for a minute to think outside their little European/American box and see the thing as a whole. Also from the results, things are better than expected in WCS EU as it had a decent amount of non-Koreans in the top 8. (WCS NA isn't doing as good with having 6 Koreans out of the 8, heh.) The WCS system may not be perfect but it's undeniably better (except for Koreans due to the prize pool cuts and reduce tournaments, though it's debatable how things would have fared as I know SC2 isn't doing great in South Korea sadly) than what foreigners had last year. Plus, Blizzard said that next year, the WCS tournaments will be LAN only (meaning you have to be there) which means that Koreans who want to participate probably need to live there to play (and if they do live in NA or EU regions, they can help those scenes more by practicing/playing more with them on the same region ladder or in practice houses outside of Korea).

A don't remember a single moment when Protoss were dominating. 1-3 of them were extremely good, nothing more, especially compared to a ton of Zergs and Terrans that won tournaments.
