I seriously don't understand EGTL. They perform so unbelievably bad in proleague. It makes no sense at all. They always look leagues worse than they do in any other environment.

Remember GSTL?
The level of competition in PL is quite a bit higher than any other team-league they've ever played in.

Do you think they could do better in GSTL? I think the number one thing that hurts EGTL is having such a shallow line up. They use the same players constantly, in the nearly same order too. They will always be susceptible to snipes, even especially so in winners format.

They sucked in GSTL. They were dead-last. They got 5-2d by NSH_Tassadar.

This is true.
But that team lacked
Taeja, Hero, JD, Oz, Alive, Revival.
Basically...the entire EG-TL Roster they're boasting right now outside of JYP

They had Taeja for the match against NSH.
Team Slayers, Axiom-Acer and Vile forever

Wah..they have a deep line up
Terran: Taeja/Alive
Toss: Hero, JYP, Oz
Zerg: Revival, JD, (Snute/Zenio)

Also..all proleague teams depths are shalow
Look at KT..
Same Flash/Zest/Stats/ ACtion or Crazy-hydra every time
Look at Samsung
Jangbi/Roro/Stork/Reality every time.
Or even STX:
Innovation/Hyvaa/(insert 2 STX Toss) all the time.
only SKT T1 and Woongjin can boast about depth

Let's be honest here. Taeja, HerO, JD are guaranteed, teams know they will be sent out, everybody else is a major step below.

Whats your point though..
KT is guaranteed to send: Stats/Flash/Zest
SKT T1: Fantasy/Rain/Parting
Samsung: Jangbi/Roro/Stork/Reality
STX: INnovation/Rain/Trap
All teams basically have 3-4 guys guaranteed to play.

The funny part is KT is still not a very strong team. Round 6 will send them back down the rankings.

They're just hiding how much the rest of the team is improving in HotS right now. They're just hiding the fact that Flash and Wooki are actually their 2 worst players.

The difference is the guys that are a step below. On EGTL, who's your next guy after Taeja, HerO, and JD? That player will most likely be weaker than any other guy that gets sent out.

I hope EGTL doesn't leave PL. It was arrogant to think that they'd own PL immediately, but it would be a shame to lose the only foreign foothold in PL. Just take a look at WJS or STX... it is definitely possible to turn it around.

For KT, after the core and possibly crazy-hydra, everyone is also step below, Hitman's a big surprise if he wins any games. ACtion has looked terrible transitioning from WoL to HoTS
Samsung..doesnt have much to choose from after their starting 4, + Shine.

As for EG-TL I think youre underestimating Revival/Oz/Alive, Alive's been quite solid in PL, and there's absolutely no shame in losing vs Innovation and Flash.
JYP was one of EG-TL's best performers too.
Revival/Oz will come around.

SlayerS Coca and Puzzle helped them that one season man. You'd think that A.G. would have re-introduced to the mix.

I think JYP was also one of the best players on SlayerS_EG during GSTL? He got put into ace quite a bit.
I remember Zenex vs Liquid very well actually. It was one of the first matches signaling Life's reign of domination.

He won a few games and he was EG's boyo but Coca and Puzzle were doing a lot of the heavy carrying, no?

It depends though. Some guys cannot handle being in individual leagues and PL at the same time. Sometimes they get rest; other times they don't, so meh.

Theyre certainly not the deepest team.
But they certainly dont possess the least depth.
T8, KT and STX have similar depth.
except T8's core is minimally better than EG-TL's and
KT and STX possess a super ace and a reliable 2nd hand man.
Taeja + JD has been inconsistent

Yeah, JYP basically just got sent out when nobody else was left
CoCa was a monster that season, something like 11-5 in matches?

EDIT: 11-4
¯\_(シ)_/¯

Wah..they have a deep line up
Terran: Taeja/Alive
Toss: Hero, JYP, Oz
Zerg: Revival, JD, (Snute/Zenio)

Also..all proleague teams depths are shalow
Look at KT..
Same Flash/Zest/Stats/ ACtion or Crazy-hydra every time
Look at Samsung
Jangbi/Roro/Stork/Reality every time.
Or even STX:
Innovation/Hyvaa/(insert 2 STX Toss) all the time.
only SKT T1 and Woongjin can boast about depth

Let's be honest here. Taeja, HerO, JD are guaranteed, teams know they will be sent out, everybody else is a major step below.

Whats your point though..
KT is guaranteed to send: Stats/Flash/Zest
SKT T1: Fantasy/Rain/Parting
Samsung: Jangbi/Roro/Stork/Reality
STX: INnovation/Rain/Trap
All teams basically have 3-4 guys guaranteed to play.

The difference is the guys that are a step below. On EGTL, who's your next guy after Taeja, HerO, and JD? That player will most likely be weaker than any other guy that gets sent out.

For STX..After Dear/Hyvaa/INnovation/Trap, all the guys are a step below...Mini hasnt reached there yet, Last sucks at PL for some reason.

No one doubts their talent. The only question, I fear, is their training schedule. I don't know how's it like, but from EG's emphasis on streaming and marketing, maybe the environment doesn't breed them to be better players? Maybe if Coach Park stays, and implements some real hard-core training, we can see some real improvement. The worst thing is that JD's true talent may actually be stifled in EG I'm not suggesting EG's training is bad or anything, maybe it's just something the Koreans aren't used to, and mentally it stifles them.
