this, not to take anything away from theognis' play though. I just don't understand why roach+hydras first game with no banes if he got late vipers then now, that ultras burrow and hesitation at this third causing him to lose it etc... I feel like he's worried about widow mines a lot lol so he's too cautious and allowed theognis to do what he wished

So what do you get from winning the first game? I mean if you lose you get U&D and if you win you have to play another round where if you lose you get U&D. I guess I just don't see the point of the system. I mean obviously if you win the whole thing you get in code S but still it seems like theres no real reward for winning first round, and likewise no consequence for losing

Yeah, only the 4th place person in the Up & Downs actually drops entirely out in AM and EU right now. So only 8 new spots in Challenger available each Season. I can see how this is reasonable with the relatively thinner ranks of pros in AM and EU, but it certainly feels weird after being used to GSL...

Great play by theognis!!

BTW in the second game, when JD had Ultra,infestor, queen, army.. That was when Theognis started dropping like a madman. What could have JD done against that? His army was pretty immobile, so why not make tons of spines/spores? (I'm P, I genuinely don't know if I'm super wrong)

Honestly, I found it pretty underwhelming.

Even without the nationalism stance, an America Terran with almost no major results beating Jaedong 2-0 is a big deal. There seemed to be barely any excitement at the end of either of those games.
