With the implementation of the WCS system, the Up/Down matches have had a minor change. While the Up/Downs were normally comprised of the round 2 and round 3 losers from Code A (and sometimes foreigner seeds awarded by GomTV), this season there will be two additional spots awarded from a special tournament. Thus, there will be 30 Up/Down participants in total, which probably means six groups of five players.
The players eligible for the tournament are all players eliminated in the first round of Code A/Challenger League, as well as players eliminated in the Challenger League qualifiers (i.e, Code B players).
117 players participated in this tournament so far, and games from the Ro16 onward will be broadcast via replay on the eSF's channel (twitch.tv/esf_en) by GSL caster Gisado.

Well his bracket is actually definitely a little bit weaker than the other one so I think there is a really great chance for him to do it. Jjakji is one of my favorites for a good long time and its a shame that he couldn't make it back in through code B over this time but he has been doing noticeable work over the past year in GSTL and qualified for the last MLG so his condition isn't bad. I think if I was running a team he would be the first player I would go after and id be incredibly disappointed if EG or TL never tried to sign him for pro league because I definitely think he is better than Alive and depending on his condition better than or equal to Taeja.
He usually casts Code A on Korean stream.

yes, probably
it's more like they're going to back normal after giving out EXTRA spots last season, to fill spots for region changers MC and HyuN (they could be accounted for because they dropped out in the Ro32, TaeJa they didn't know if he was dropping out in Ro16 or Ro8+, so they just had to roll with it and let Squirtle luck into a Code S bye)
Seeing a lot of famous Kespa players climb up, Sacsri and CJ_hero stand out. Sad Seed, Ganzi and Puzzle didn't make it through. Glad Brown is still in it.
Amazing some of the Code A/S staples that are having to fight it through code B these days...
Wait, I thought season 2 of wcs was going to be the osl. Did they change their format to mimic gsl or are the up/down matches going to seed players for season 3?

I'm actually not surprised, and I understand for the reasons you listed. I agree it would have made more sense if I didn't add "O.o"
I dislike when a terran has 8 bases, 6k mins, and 10 rax. The only way he could lose is if his main army gets crushed, and can only remade 10 units at a time.

Gisado is an absolute beast. He used to run a korean KOTH (or was it a weekly bracket tournament?). I remember seeing names I'd never heard of on his stream, then a few months later watching them start popping up on GSL.

Surprised that Bang is doing so well. He's played quite a bit for MVP in several of the smaller team leagues but I was never all that impressed with his play. I'll have to check the VODs to see how much he improved because Brown is no slouch.

Complements on the english bracket (largely based on TLPD research, I guess it could be people with the same name but they play/played the same race so I see no reason not to assume it's them).

Afaik he did pretty well in "foreign" teamleagues like IPTL and AcerTeamstoryCup which is why I traded for him in FGSTL but lately he hasnt played much, hope to see mre of him anyhow! =/ Dark took him out in this season`s Code A Preliminaries.

Bang's third has been up for minutes before herO's. I'm continuing to be impressed as he kills little things where he can but doesn't commit his army to bad engagements. Right now the game is anyone's.

hmm bang should have left with the cloak ghosts before the observers arrived. The stargate + fleet beacon tech didn't even kick in and Vines still won.

Savage just completely steamrolled him in game one. Should have ended quicker if Savage had a little better macro. was floating a lot of resources but too much production never got slowed down
