I really thought he would advance. The last time Idra won games in a premier tournament was in November 2012, almost 6 months ago. And how many tournaments did he participate in since then? None because he didn't qualify for any, and EG didn't think it was worth their money to send him to Dreamhack. Which did he fail to qualify for? MLG's, IEM's, Shoutcraft America, couldn't even get top 16 AM players on the ladder. MLG granted. IEM was decided by last years IEM results. Many top Americans failed to reach top 16 ladder for Shoutcraft because it was announced right before the ladder was locked. But Idra was not locked out, so what you are saying is that he couldn't reach top 16 among the AM players that weren't locked out. That is even less impressive.

My point is that he hasn't been in tournaments, and mostly not because he failed to qualify, so that says nothing about his current skill level. And the last time he was in a position to be judged that way, he did excellently.

Scarlett and Illusion et al didn't have a GM account to play on which was their issue preventing them from qualifying, not the inability to hit the top 16. Idra did and didn't qualify, failed fair and square. Next.

Both going for Roach/Bane attacks.

Those who couldn't qualify for Shoutcraft couldn't do so because they didn't have an account in GM, Idra has no excuse, he just couldn't win enough games to get enough points to qualify. All he does is play Starcraft 2 and he couldn't even get top 16 NA/SA players on the NA ladder.
IEM had a tournament in Katowice this year before the World Championship that he could have qualified for but didn't, if he did well there he could have played at the WC.

Your logic is fuzzy. There is a lot that points to his current skill level being low tier pro. He hasn't had any major wins or appearances (going beyond group stages or anything significant) since late 2011, early 2012. IdrA has been milking his stream for the past year, I think it's safe to say he is washed up as a pro, and in reality sets a bad precedent for the scene. There are better players on the AM scene that deserve a lot more attention than he gets nowadays.

Most people have seen him play on stream (either watching himself, or watching other streamers) and know his current form. Also not playing in tournaments is a set back since it means he does not have anything to really look for, thus practice (something i really doubt he does at this point anyways). Most people who said the 0-4 are not because they hate idra, but because against active players like revival or goswser and a pretty good korean terran as polt that he has been dodging, he had little chances to even take a game off them.
You are just hating your own inability to do a more realistic prediction because you are biased towards idra, not because other peoples are biased to hate him.
