MMA has nothing but good memories from Iron Squid. He stayed on the stage nearly 30 minutes to take care of his fans and one thing is sure, he wants to come back now that the issues he had with SlayerS are behind as he is one of Kaoru’s protégé. IPL 5 were not convincing enough to say MMA is back in shape but be sure he will give everything he has to do well in Iron Squid. Fans are longing for the day MMA comes back and ignites the crowd again. With two Zergs in his group, the reigning champion will have a good occasion to show if he is on his way back to the top.
Goswser, born in the USA
With Golden taking one of the two slots of the NA qualifier and IdrA having too busy of a schedule to accept the invitation, Goswser is the only American (Stephano excepted) in the tournament. The Zerg played really well in the qualifiers, beating heavy weights such as MajOr and HwangSin. Goswser has showed promising play but he is yet to make his way when he plays the very big guns. Iron Squid would be quite the occasion to make a splash especially by defeating MMA.
The face up
When he conquered his title, MMA was the best TvZ player in the world. You cannot really say that anymore as MMA got eliminated from the GSL when losing to ByuL. Still MMA is a great player, and rare are the foreigners who can claim they beat him. Goswser already beat MajOr, beating MMA would be one step beyond.
Genius, the great mind of StarCraft
Not much to say about Genius since SlayerS disbanded. He did not switch to LoL which is a good thing and Ryung said all of his former teammates but Arthur found a team, but he is yet to announce where he is going. In addition to the teamless status, his games in GSL were puzzling. Although he won he used builds that were even weirder than his usual ones. Genius is a really strong player but he needs to bring his A game to advance in the rounds of 16. The good thing is that he knows he can do it, he was once a GSL finalist.
Nerchio, the silent assassin
This year Nerchio has confirmed he is one of the best foreigners, moreover he showed that he can compete with the big boys from Korea. Even though he still prefers playing quietly from home, Nerchio travels to big events and usually does well in them. In the first Iron Squid Nerchio was good but yet to defeat the best Koreans, he has done it since winning HSC 5. Facing the mighty Koreans, Nerchio is one of the best shots for foreigners to be represented in Paris. As he is a very good player in all the match-up, he has an asset in a group where all races are represented. He came really close to making it through in Iron Squid I, maybe he will have better fortune in the second chapter.
The face up
Genius should be a legitimate favorite as he is a strong Protoss who just defeated Hyvaa in GSL, but it’s never easy. Although he did not do that well in IPL, Nerchio has been playing better than his opponent lately. The Polish Zerg really has a great shot at taking Genius down.
About advancing
The real problem with this group is that the two Koreans have been quite versatile lately. If MMA is on a good day, he will advance fairly easily. But he hasn’t been on a very good day for quite a while now. All the French fans are hoping to witness the comeback of their champion, and it might time for him to deliver as he does not want people to see his move to Acer as a preretirement. Nerchio might be the favorite to take the whole group, depending on how well he will do against Genius. This group is not the toughest, but it might be the tightest.
I have no idea who's going to get out of this group. Gowswer and Nerchio vary day to day and MMA/Genius have been looking kind of poor lately. Whoever can best bring the A game is in for a good chance.

Who betrayed whom has nothing to do with game results. The reality is that a lot of previously good terrans have dropped down to near-irrelevance and there have been few replacements so far.
I cant think of another terran who had such a huge drop off. What he needed was to listen to a coach like Boxer, who dealt with success and was able to maintain his results for a relatively long period of time.

Not at all. Nestea's problem is that the game has changed from the time when he was dominant, and it became harder for him to keep up. His skill didn't really decline too much, it just didn't improve enough when everyone else was getting better.
With MMA, you can clearly see that he's much worse.

I think he will make a comeback as player. If he is on his game he is still a Code-A-level player. Also he seems to innovate a lot of new strategies, at least some guys thanked him for strategies in their interviews

cloudkingdom game was bad play this is just marine tank tvz on whirlwind if you need more reference, watch code S, every game ends up like this, broods are not really good if you "open them" unless you have an advantage, so its often mass drop counter attacks vs ultra + PF's kamikazes
Alot of ppl saying MMA play so bad. He was actually 1 base up for quite a while, cleared almost all the creep, dropping everywhere. He just couldnt take a big fight because on that map there is to much open space making ultras to cost efficient. Do anyone of you think goswser played a good game?

if youare going to spend 1000's of min/gas on corruptors/spines/spores, doesn't it make sense to put them on the edge to defend harass like that?... infestors and broods should be central becuase they aren't quick, but corruptors, ling roach are quick.. why put them all in one ball in the middle. i dont understnad

What ever happened to Nerchio, he was considered a real contender to Stephano in the Euro Zerg division, now he loses quite frequently, even in his ZvP which was really strong.

All four of them were at IPL 5 and they all did poorly. I'm sure it is not ideal to be playing in an online tournament while at a LAN.

Who called him the worst player in Code A? That is completely idiotic MMA was in Code A. There are a bunch of other players he is better than as well.
A ton of people called him that during the GSL. I think even Wolf said that and everyone just went along with it in the forum and kept repeating it.
It's definitely partly this, and also partly the fact that in the preview, the writer basically stated that Genius was switching to LoL as fact, which is not true at all.

im a master toss and honestly genius shouldnt have done that build his build was super greedy. you should 100% of the time lose when going for 3rd+collossi tech directly after a pheonix attack, if the zerg does what gowser did and just attacks your third with roach/hydra and your low on forcefields with only 1 collossi

That's not really true. There were significant problems with genius' engagment both in the place on the map he engaged in as well as losing all his sentries which completely exposed the first colo he managed to save, the misrally on his second colo, not walling in those cannons near his nexus (the lings killed it before the roaches could engage, a gateway or two in the way and he would've had cannon support for the fight)... etc etc. It's still hard to hold but certainly not impossible.
Ah, Nerchio pretty disappointing today. At least one of MMA and Genius will get through, maybe they'll show better games in playoffs if they get a bit more time to practice, I don't know. This one is already showing improvement.
