Yeah and he was brilliant.

Yay, glad he didn't take too big a hit from the casting confusion, he's a solid caster.

I agree. He was quite good last night.

Even though it wouldn't have mattered, but playing Zenio/JYP/HuK over Sea is a huge mistake.

hopefully TLEG can use this loss as a motivation to show the koreans that foreigners can compete at the same level

EG/TL does have an amazing lineup, but it's going to really depend upon how much prep time these players are able to give to Proleague. You can't get by with just having a group of great players. Taeja, Stephano, and HerO are all going to be studied endlessly by whoever draws them and if they don't prepare with the same intensity they will lose. Look at Oz vs. Stephano awhile back (I forget which tournament) where Oz used a build that abused every one of Stephano's timings and ended up totally destroying him. That's the kind of thing TL/EG's top players are going to have to deal with every week in proleague (especially with so much game tape of them out).

I'm sure TL/EG will put a huge amount of time into this, and do much better in the upcoming weeks, but their end results are all going to come down to their prep work for specific teams. Hopefully they're willing to make some sacrifices in terms of other tournaments.

It's been proven for over 1.5 years that they can't. That ship's sailed.

HAhahah oh man people calling PL bo1 seriously do not know a goddamn thing, it is easily the best format available for both interesting/weird upsets while still having the best team generally win/go the distance.

I was all on board with the prediction that EGTL could take out KT before hand but looking again at the predictions for each match I started to realize it was a bit of a long shot. like quite a few predicted that Thorzain would be able to win his match and even then predictions typically went to an epic, deciding ace match between JD and Flash. Since Thorzain (and a good amount of the players playing for the unholy alliance this week) have seemed to be in a bit of a slump in late ( likely due to the curse ) This really started to look like a long shot as the match went on. I still think EGTL is a strong team in this league right now. but they really need their stars tied up in NASL this weekend to carry them.

On a separate note ProLeague seems to have its own metagame going on. partly due to the wonky maps and partly due to the fact that SC1 guys are going for hyper agressive allin-ish builds a good part of the time. It really shows how greedy what we've considered to be "standard play" for a long time can be.

Actually Stephano won the first game in that series, so he wins if it was a BO1.

Which tournament was it? I was positive Oz beat him the first game on Daybreak with the weird triple nexus/void ray opener, but I could easily be wrong.

Either way, the same point applies, the proleague players are going to spend a tremendous amount of time figuring out just how to beat EGTL builds. When Flash lost his streak in BW it was because his opponent studied his play enough to see a flaw in his scouting path at a certain time so he could get a reaver into Flash's base. EGTL needs to prepare at that sort of level (or somewhere close to that, since Flash is kind of a special place) if they're going to make an impact this season.

Some MLG arena, I think.

He lost the first game on Antiga in MLG summer arena. And the build Oz used (mainly 1 gate expands) where not tailored to Stephano, he used the exact same ones against every zerg in that tournament.

Not the best of starts for TL-EG! I am sure they will improve. The longer they are together the better they will integrate. Stephano, Taeja and Hero are currently the three big hitters in that team. Deploy them and they will look much stronger. Anyway I have no doubt that the fixtures with TL-EG will have the most Foreigner interest throughout the season.

What are they going to call the EG base in Korea - The EG Hive?

Thorzain was jet-lagged and so not at his best, he will improve. So far the best performing Foreigner in ProLeague this season has been DOA. He was excellent.

This was in MLG Summer Arena. Stephano won the first game in Antigua. Second game was in Entombed.

I am not saying that Stephano is going to roll the Kespa players. I think they will probably be extremely strong opponents. However obviously Stephano is also going to be one of the strongest players that EG-TL can field and more of a challenge than Zenio. I am keen to see what will happen. Isn't this what people want to see, how Stephano does in Korean tournaments? OK not GSL Code S, but the Kespa equivalent. As Stephano will be in Korea to play in some of these Proleague fixtures, maybe he can take the time to play in Code S too. The schedules have to match up of course, but it is possible.

What an exciting match. I’m surprised that everyone was giving it to EGTL, and was not one bit surprised when KT Rolfstomped over the ill-prepared foreign team. I found that game one was one of the best games on an exciting new map which will really shake things up.

With PL we’re really getting to see what élite players are made of. Most games were short, and bordered abuse.

I’m sure EGTL will be able to turn this around once they stop being all jet lagged and get decent prep time in.
I promise not to make a tasteless joke.

I knew KT would win this.

More work for EG-TL ahead.

Nice to see a PL thread with 200+ pages.

Anyone know if this was viewable over twitch, or if it was just a black screen because of the pay wall?
