Well, maybe that stops the hype train that Khaldor started. Even though I think Maru was always overrated, he did play well below his standard today.

There's a difference between playing great midgame starcraft and deathball starcraft.

What bothers me is that tasteless just looks at these games like a first timer and thinks Maru is playing horribly.

Don't started the balance talk here please.

Actually, I should revise the matchup ratings.... Not sure if this system is too accurate.

To be fair, Maru was behind in every game from early on, he never got a lead anywhere and all of his games looked extremely one-sided, so he is justified in saying that, even if Maru is capable of more.

Maru played well, but he made a mistake in transitioning to ravens while giving Soulkey a chance to push and kill him before he was done transitioning. I guess. I don't know what he could have done differently, maybe threaten a counter attack on the fourth or maybe transition sooner.

Both of Marus game on entombed were ok. He tried to gain control of the game through multitasking, but never overcommited. He did reasonable amounts of damage, but that isn't enough. A commitment to a 3base push is held easily at this level. He couldn't handle the infestors and that might be the reason we see so many terrans go for mech these days. Because mech might just handle infestors better than marine/tank and Zerg players seem so comfortable playing against bio that this might be the only hope to make them screw up (like roro did yesterday)... :o
game2 against curious was a classic BO-loss. As terran you have to take these risks nowadays if you want to diverse your builds. game1 against soulkey was a bad BO-choice and there is no excution for that.
But to say Maru is not code S quality is way to harsch. TvZ is very hard to play these days and he lost to BL/infestor twice and got another clear BO-loss.

i thought maru played well but soulkeys drop defense was excellent that game

Both of them didn't play well in their respective Ro32 groups.

There is literally no other Terran I can think of to pin our hopes on now except Mvp.
