Well, imagine this: TaeJa woke up this morning, having terrible diarrhea. He felt really sick, and he thought he might be coming down with the flu. He goes to the studio, has to play his round of 32 group. He plays terribly, loses twice in a row, and falls to code A.

Does that make him suddenly a bad player? A single bad day, and you can fall out of Code S. It can happen to anyone, and it doens't even have ot be something as drastic as being sick. You could be unlucky, you could have slept badly, anything. So it's not deserved to say TaeJa is a bad player all of a sudden.

The point was he is continually hyped as being the best terran. And he lost terribly in both of his matches, sure everyone has bad days, but you're expected to perform a tiny bit better than 0-2 against players you should beat/have beaten in the past.

Right on the hype, but keep in mind that back in 2011, Mvp fell to Code A right after a GSL championship (or so, iirc)... The gap is smaller from QFs to Code A...

maybe people will learn to not hype players up so much and call them the best in the world before they win a Korean tournament this time.

probably not! they never learn ~_~

yeah, people just do that, its so stupid

you gotta learn to respect the legends, I never thought taeja was best terran or even top3/5 terrans for that matter.

This group is shaping exactly like I predicted to be honest

Then you are silly. He was DEFINITELY top 2 terran with MVP only like 8 weeks ago.

He was "top 2" when there were pretty much no korean tournaments

and I also always thought polt > taeja

just mvp and polt make taeja not top2, stop thinking taeja was best terran just cuz he won foreign tournaments (lol), its like thinking stephano is top2 zerg with life, makes no sense

Even if you exclude foreign tournaments Ro8 - Ro8 - Ro4 in code S qualified Taeja as the #2 terran in the world during that time period.

Yup, Boxer, NaDa, Flash all over hyped...

You may have forgot it's an sc2 tournament. Or you just missed out some other guys : moon, grubby, Federer, Usain Bolt ....

The true test of Taeja is to see how he bounces back, if he comes back to win a GSL next year then we can say all along the hype was deserved and he will go on to become one of the legends ( hopefully )

What? Taeja made Ro8 3 seasons straight in GSL (a Korean tournament!!!). What was Polt's record in GSL during that span?

I mean like 1-2 months ago when ppl kept saying that taeja was the best terran

at the time taeja was the best in the world... lol. he's not anymore obviously but during his IPTL run and winning countless foreign tournaments during a time where terran was at its weakest, he was the best in the world.

by your logic nobody should ever be hyped up because as soon as they have one bad day/tournament they're total shit and everyone who said they were good is an idiot

MKP used to get all the hype before that, at least for a couple of months, but soon people realized that he never does exceptionally well in Code S.

The one and only Terran that consistently delivered was Mvp.

One GSL? Nah, he'd have to win like 4 to justify the hype.
