HAHA! It gets me thinking though, because here in SC2, Korean tourneys are very different from foreign tournaments. Well, I guess I'm just reopening the debate as to what kind of tournament format is harder.
I just miss the BW days when it was practically impossible for a foreigner to beat a Korean. Now, mid-level and lower level Korean players lose in foreign tournaments all the time. On the other hand, those foreigners who do beat those Koreans get their asses handed to them by the same players in a GSL style tournament.

Well, imagine this: TaeJa woke up this morning, having terrible diarrhea. He felt really sick, and he thought he might be coming down with the flu. He goes to the studio, has to play his round of 32 group. He plays terribly, loses twice in a row, and falls to code A.
Does that make him suddenly a bad player? A single bad day, and you can fall out of Code S. It can happen to anyone, and it doens't even have ot be something as drastic as being sick. You could be unlucky, you could have slept badly, anything. So it's not deserved to say TaeJa is a bad player all of a sudden.

"people were saying he was the best in the world 3 weeks ago when will they learn ~_~" the hype train reaches its goal when that player wins a GSL/OSL So Life, Rain can win multiple starleagues or go straight to obvilion, who cares

He could be perfect jungler in dota2 with that skill.

If we can't hype a guy who in the last month made top8 gsl / top 4 gsl / 3 win in 3 foreign tournament, it's gonna be kinda hard to actually hype someone. Or maybe people are saying only mvp deserves hype.

Life won't get knocked down into Code A. Look at his group. The easiest ever.
Plus, he took down MVP(most successful player of all-time) in a GSL final(MVP homecourt) in his first try.
When you are 15 and being a Royal Roader beating the best player, You are on to great things and his hype is well deserved.

We should write a template for these discussions.
"$PLAYERNAME had done so well in $TOURNEYNAME, he definitely was Top {1, ..., 5} $RACE in the world! I think we can all agree that MY method for extrapolating absolute statements of skills from a sample of {5, ..., 20} games is perfect!"

Exactly this, although the diarrhoea scenario is a bit over the top maybe. SC2 is so volatile that tracking skill like this is very difficult. If you react too quickly, you will never be right.

The point was he is continually hyped as being the best terran. And he lost terribly in both of his matches, sure everyone has bad days, but you're expected to perform a tiny bit better than 0-2 against players you should beat/have beaten in the past.
