I though we already reach a consensus that if there is a shroud of doubt about the legitimacy of being one, then you are not a bonjwa. MVP is a great player, but yeah I wouldn't call him bonjwa yet. If you guys were around during Savior's reign in BW, then you know what I'm talking about. If not, try to look him up and read some of the write-ups here and you will know what a bonjwa is really like. I know people hate this talk, but I'm pretty happy as a MVP fan to even see it debated. Also on the side that doesn't think he is. Honestly the way sc2 is currently I don't see there being a bonjwa any time in the near future.

Read this writeup. Guys this is what a " bonjwa " means. Savior did what was the impossible during his era and that's why people called him a bonjwa during his era of dominance from 2005-2007. No doubt MVP is the most successful player of all time in WoL. But he is not a bonjwa by any means.

GSL win before switch of Kespa players doesnt mean much Boxer,Nana, ilovoo's achievements dont mean that much cuz it was the way way before the dominance of TBLS. So, who else from Kespa is doing exceptionally ??? Bisu? Stork? Kepsa players joining simply means bigger competition, doesnt mean you can degrade the accomplishments previous GSL champs made. You might as well bring that up when the "REAL TALENTS" start doing well ^^

Win against non-KesPA: He still haven't beat the real pro players yet. Win against KesPA: Only have short time to practice since transition. Or a more ridiculous like "the game take no skill so anyone can win against someone who is better". Lose against someone: MVP is overrated. Man, being the best player in the world is really hard.

I don't think the word means as much as you guys do for MVP to be willing to call himself a bonjwa. Really there's never going to be a player as consistent as in Brood War simply because the skill cap is lower and there are way too many tournaments. If the only tournament that existed in SC2 was GSL then MVP would be ridiculously dominant. I don't think him losing tournaments that he flew half-way around the world to participate in should count so much against him. well, he said " I wouldn't be too upset about it "

MVP is like 2004-2007 NaDa, he just shows up and wins tournaments from time to time, and keeps doing it. Now you might say "well Nada's a bonjwa so there" but NaDa is a bonjwa because of how dominant he was in 2002-03 when he won almost every KPGA tour there was and an OSL (at the same time) on top of that.

SC2 is different so we can probably discard all premier events he didn't attend. His case as Bonjwa is not close to any Bonjwa of the past. There is one good news, though. Bonjwa is a term created for Savior. He has proven himself by winning TvZs against the odds (seriously) when all other zergs were beaten. He was also extremely consistent. Currently terrans seem underpowered so if Mvp can somehow beat the odds and step up - being the only terran consistently beating protoss players and consistently getting to a finals winning > 2/3 of them then the possibility of Bonjwahood for him is open ![]() Not gonna happen, though.
