Stephano is very good, but I think that in a Team League, he is also the easiest player to snipe ever.

If he wins a game, just send a decent zerg against him and he'll probably lose.

This is not proleague format though, players selected as starters play each other in a bo3.

EDIT: I was thinking of the EGMCSL tournament - This tournament (IPLTAC) is of course using proleague format!

EG easily has the better lineup. I think Hero will have to carry the TL team here for them to stand a chance.

I would give the overall lineup to Liquid... Yeah EG has a couple people that are still impressive, but Liquid's players are (mostly) all in good shape.

Are they?

Taeja and Hero are in good shape, as almost always(although HerO is shaky in ZvP) and Sheth did somewhat decent recently in the PokerStrategy league and beat some foreigners and Rain and only lost to Koreans at MLG.

No idea about TLO, he hasn't done anything in a while, but the fact that Liquid played their three other Zergs in Ret, Zenio and Sheth ahead of him at the IPL TAC finals doesn't make me too confident in his abilities.

Zenio hasn't been good on Liquid like ever (for Korean standards at least) and he's at 47% winrate on TLPD in the last six months against primarily foreigners.

Lastly, Ret hasn't looked good at all in the last couple of weeks, he lost tournament BO3s against players like Heromarine, Satiini and Fuzer, didn't make it out of the group stages at the Battle at Ministry of Win, but it's more the gameplay than the result that made me a bit worried, he didn't look at all like the Ret of old who you could consider a favourite against almost any foreigner.

Edit: Forgot Haypro and Nony, well, I guess they won't play regardless of their teammates' condition.

TL;DR: Taeja, HerO and with some good will Sheth are in good shape, the rest of Liquid doesn't seem to be.

I think Liquid will have a tough time if Taeja doesn't all-kill. Every other player on their team is snipable by JYP.

This is not proleague format though, players selected as starters play each other in a bo3.

Winner of first match is NOT playing in the 2nd series, it's two new players that play a bo3

So yeah, not alot of sniping you can do with this format - Except for anticipating what order the opposing team will send out, and order your team accordingly to what you think counters the best.

Also, the ace match (if relevant) is also something that you can mindgame alot with.. Like, If TL thinks that Stephano is going to be EG's ace, they could send Zenio as their ace, as Stephano's ZvZ is abit below his other MU's

However, if it turns out to be PuMa, then Liquid will look like fools to have Zenio as ace, with TaeJa on the roster

Personally, I like the proleague format better, but I think this has its benefits as well, as for instance rewarding line-up depth over individual skill.

This is a KOTH format with bo1 all the way, so your post is irrevelent.

No, this tournament uses all-kill/GSTL format, not Proleague.

Yep, I totally forgot Stephano.
And I miscalculated because of that... What I tried to say is that Liquid has a lot of Zerg players that I would say have reasonable shots at taking out EGs aces. From EGs perspective Stephano is about their only chance to take out TaeJa if he plays well (his TvT looks godly and EGs Protoss lineup isn't that scary I mean JYP is good but against TaeJa?)

Proleague format is different I thought? Doesn't IPTL use the GSTL format?

stephano has what it takes to take out taeja, after he gets rid of him, it should be do-able for the rest of EG after he gets sniped from a zerg. Zenio could probably easily take stephano out. Then send in puma or something.
