Will there be an english cast though. That is the question.

Aaaaah do I root for BoxeRs team or do I root for Jaedong?? I'm really not sure...
This isn't listed in the upcoming events btw.

Jaedong's picture in the banner looks like he hasn't sleep for days. Those bags under his eyes...

Ahhhh, SKT too scary when they can play Bisu SC1 and Sun SC2. Fantasy dominates both games, so he can be used whenever and do well. Best is also very good SC2, and he might not be amazing SC2, but still better than most.
And then Sun as ace and already destroyed Jaedong 2-0 in WCS Korea? Yikes.

And then Sun as ace and already destroyed Jaedong 2-0 in WCS Korea? Yikes. Jaedong has likely spent every waking hour playing zvp vs people like Hero and MC to prepare for Sun. I would love to see a twist and have Fantasy sent out as ace instead of Sun. Also, I am hoping for bisu in sc2 to see how much he has improved in the last few weeks. He finally has been showing signs of rapid improvement.
|
I don't think they'll send Jaedong for ace vs Sun this time. I think it will be BaBy vs By.Sun if we get there.
|
Why did they have to meet so early ;;

Ah finally SPL match thread in this forum, thanks opterown!

This today!?!?! It's not on the calendar ;o

If a team plays a player in BW day one, he has to play Sc2 on day two right? so i guess best players will come out on the first day to play the same game again in the third match. Or is the third day free pick?

First of all, anyone knows what are the rules for the play-off regarding sending players to play BW/SC2? Imo there are 3 possibilities:
1.) Nothing changes, same rules stay, players playing BW needs to play SC2 in next match and vice-versa. Regardless of anything (except for ace matches, of course).
2.) Teams can send out their strongest players for both games in every match - for example Bisu would probably play BW in every match in this Bo3.
3.) Combination of both, players that play BW in first match need to play SC2 in the second and vice-versa, and if it comes to deciding third match, every team can play whoever they wish in whatever game. This option makes the most sense considering the format, imo, but who knows, maybe theres something else and I am totally wrong here.
And for todays match, imo SKT > T8:
SKT can field better team in BW imo, in SC2 it depends mostly on who gets matched against whom - I am pretty confident Jaedong can take his opponents, same goes for Fantasy and by.Sun and to a lesser extent Baby - everything depends on who goes against whom. And if it should come to the Ace match, I think it would be Jaedong vs by.Sun and in that case, i think by.Sun would win (he seems like one of the best, if not the best, player from KESPA. Jaedong looks like one of the higher tiers but certainly not the best KESPA can offer). I will be rooting for T8 though :>
|
I hope T8 whoops SKT in the tace match. Show by.sun what pressure really is. Stare that guy down and destroy him in his wake.

I'm pretty sure in proleague, the quarter and semifinal matches are best of 3 (if that's what it says on liquipedia). That is, they play against each other as teams at most three times. The final is just a one off grand final.
I.e. This match has 9 BW sets and SC2 sets at most, split over three separate days.
That's how it worked last season: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/2011-2012_Proleague_Season_1/Play-Off - With KT vs. CJ for example, they had three seperate matches, with the scores 4-1, 2-4 and 4-0, leaving a 2-1 overall score for KT.

It kinda did. This proleague season isn't really justifiable as 'the first SC2 season' either.
It may go down as the black sheep that nobody takes seriously or wants to talk about.

I'm pretty sure they mainly focus on sc2. With bw literally down to it's last few games I just don't see them practicing bw very much at all.

Transfuse on the overlord lol
|
|
|
thats such a pitiful marine madivac army
|
JD's creep spread is so much better than it was at the start of the season.
Edit: Excellant pickup, Fanta
|
This is the same medivac harass that made Nestea look chobo over in WCS, but Jaedong is holding it so well.
|
Jaedong handling fantasy drop attacks really well. Much better than nestea tried
|
what is jdjd waiting for?

Awesome game! GG fantasy! though I wanted Jaedong to win that game
|
|
Not exactly Code S level play from Jaedong, but it's so close, it just needs more refinement. Nice play from Fantasy though, he really seems to understand SC2 well.
|
anybody still complaining about pl matches? this was awesome
but im heartbroken for t8... and i should really sleep -.-
|
Good macro. His control was a bit hard to watch, but he kept those units coming. Well played.
|
That was a great game, this thread has too little people
|
pretty bad engagements throughout the game by jd, sending the lings in the front to get obliterated and then the ultras..
|
Nice conservative play from Fantasy, really looked comfortable in the early lategame there.
|
They are improving so fast, this is just crazy. x_x
|
Jaedong with such a bad engagement at Fantasy's 4th, while losing his 4th AND 5th at the same time. He really had that game, too bad
Great persistence from Fantasy though.
|
On September 01 2012 14:06 IshinShishi wrote: pretty bad engagements throughout the game by jd, sending the lings in the front to get obliterated and then the ultras.. Ya. Idra style. Get those fatties up front!
I was hoping, with his star-sense, he was further ahead than I thought and could afford it... apparently not.
|
Fantasy is simply to good, The decisions and multi task during the battles... just amazing.
|
|
I like Jaedong's pure ling into super-fast hive style (I think it's cribbed from Stephano, though). If his infestor control were a little better, he could've avoided losing so many, and probably would've won. Ah well, Ace match
Fantasy's multi-tasking is unsurprisingly good, but it's also a lot of fun to watch. These games are so much better than SPL of two months ago.
|
I am a bit worry for JD in Code S and fantasy is gold in PL playoff.

SKT1 will go for the kill

No wonder Nestea lost lol. Fantasy is already a monster at sc2. Ridiculous.

I agree, pretty sure Fantasy would not look out of place vs. any Zerg.

Sayle is going to rage so hard on this.

Sending a protoss is smart by Team 8. It takes away skill out of the equation as much as possible.

I have no idea what SC2 PvP is but Sang for MVP.

wow, wtf... wasnt this a real ingame bug for the players?

Was that a pathing mistake by Sun? just seemed to get caught horribly out of position when he had the game won

Well, that certainly was a unique ending :|

There was a lag spike, and it caused Sun to end up in a really awful position where he was surrounded by Tripods. Somehow.
Anyway, it's SC2 PvP. Can't even be mad, Rain.

Game. There was a "waiting for player" screen
Might not have been "lag" exactly (could be a computer issue, like when MarineKing's computer infamously died at a GSTL finals, forcing a regame when he was about to lose), but it was definitely an issue that affected the players.

Ya, but you never know what it looked like for the player. It could have been one of those awesome moments where the game goes really fast for a second and all your units are getting killed when you gain control again.

There have been a couple with White Ra, and 1 I saw on Daybreak where the players ended up trading bases and playing on opposite sides, that are really fun... but... on the whole I would say they produce a smaller percentage of "exciting" or "good" games than a regular game of Stracraft- by quite a significant amount. Even though of course, there are exceptions.

Base trades can be amazing sometimes. There was some PvP (MC vs HongUn?) where one player had one pylon left and it was under attack but he killed the other guys pylon first.
Often they were boring.
That one just now was amazing. Worst-timed lag spike ever.
|
Okay, so apparently the issue was with the OGN Obs' computer, and it caused the game to freak out. Weird.

Watching the replay, did not look like the lag caused the bad positioning... Sun donated two archons, 4 stalkers, a couple of immortals going the wrong direction around the ramp.

Yeah, the donated archons predate the lag, actually. No excuses there
Every time a BW player loses an SC2 game due to bad pathfinding, an angel gets its wings.

The blue flame hellions just didn't do enough damage, Baby should've gg'd as soon as he forgot to lift his third orbital
