Ideally you come home at 17:00-18:00 take a shower, grab a beer and then the tournament starts (or a bit later in the evening). Now it's gonna be like.. you come home and rush to computer to see what and howmuch of the competition you have missed. sigh Anyone know roughly howmuch bandwidth in total MB it is to watch stream for 2-3hours on 360p or 480p? Don't want to rush throu 1.5gig in mobile bandwidth so early in the month ![]() http://en.twitch.tv/p/broadcast_video 480p uses 768kbit, meaning about (768/8) * 60sec * 60min/1024 = ~350MB/hour, give or take a little since it's dynamic bitrate. I think 240p should be better for your bandwidth. Fun Fact i just found out: They use TLO as their quality/bitrate example - Twitch.tv is awesome

How on earth is the bitrate of 1080p only twice the bitrate of 480p? That makes no sense to me

Video encoding doesn't scale linear You can stream 1080p at 100kbit and it will look horrible but you can still put the "1080p" stamp on it. You can also stream 480p at 3000kbit and it will look only slightly worse than a 1080p stream. They probably did the same i did not too long in the company i work for ago and encoded a video in 10 different bitrates, showed them to the boss and he picked the lowest that he considered acceptable (Note that bandwidth costs a lot of money, so the lower the bitrate you get away with, the better).

So basically their low quality streams use up way more bandwidth than it is necessary for that quality. I even remember reading something like that in the past... And uhmm this tournament, uh nice it's going to start soon! Hopefully the patch doesn't make this an unforgettable tournament...
