I mean is it kinda paradox the US have the mekka of gambling and betting a la las vegas and still online betting is prohibited by the law. it is kinda weird.
It might sound weird at first, but look a little deeper and it makes perfect sense, basically as I understand it Las Vegas has a huge lobby to make those laws the way they are.

But I'll be buying HD and watching all weekend anyway. What's my discount as a gold member again? $2 also the list of players looks sick to me It has basically all the support cast for a great tournament but a lack of top 10 in the world level players. But I would have loved to have seen MKP, DRG, MMA, Symbol, MC, Parting, Squirtle etc.. coming out. Well, taeja and Stephano are there, both of whom are stronger than several of the players on your list based on (recent) results.

Damnit. like tasteless said in that Real Talk interview, USA are a second-world country I don't see how the gambling laws have anything to do with being a "second-world" country (which isn't even the correct term to use). Go SaSe and Stephano!
the term was directly quoted from tasteless, but i know what u meant. what it has to do with gambling laws? well that specific law is actually imprisoning you. it bans certain activity which is taken for granted in other developed countries. like another poster pointed out, it benefits no-one other than las vegas lobby.

i'm gonna make a bold prediction there, but i'm giving the win to ryung, after an epic battle against stephano in the final

that maybe true, but MKP, DRG, MMA, MC...would attract a LOT more viewers than stephano, violet and taeja.

that is extremely bold prediction, considering stephano and ryung are in the same bracket, meaning they cant met each other in the finals

I looked at the players and I am a bit disappointed. It turns out the only interesting players in this tournament for me are Zergs, Stephano and Losira. I was hoping for some MKP awesomeness (Why is he not here!?), but no. However, I am sure there are some great interesting players but I have just missed out.
Anyone care to give me a tip about an interesting favourite from P or T? Many in this tournament feel like has-beens or just a walk in the park for the Koreans (Sasquatch who?), and some even retired (Didn't qxc retire one year ago?). No Huk or Idra (for some star quality), no MKP or MMA or MVP or Genius (for some skillful play). What have I missed, who is interesting that is participating?
I also feel there will be some silly steam-rolls in round 1. Do you remember WCG (200x?) when Jaedong played a Peruvian(?) and Dong said it felt like playing vs a computer.

Well, I doubt any player attracts more viewers than Stephano (certainly not if you go by something like streaming numbers) and Taeja is a TL favorite. In any case, it seems like a strange criteria for judging how worthwhile the tournament is and it certainly doesn't match up with how good the players are.

That pretty much makes it so Coca/Puzzle need to CARRY against an in-form Polt, Symbol, Hyun, Shine and Inori. Yeah MLG really fucked over Slayers. Looking forward to a TSL/FXO GSTL finals

I dont understand why people are disappointed about the Korean player pool. Remember they all qualified so they likely beat the more wellknown Koreans!
They deserve to be here becuase they earned it!

DRG, MKP and MC are the best three players in the world right now imo. Stephano belongs in the top ten and maybe Taeja does (although the thing with Taeja is he never makes the final of anything big).

Wrong. Most of the big name Koreans didn't play the qualifiers. Too busy with GSL, GSTL, WCS Korea and OSL.

I know a T won't win, but i'm rooting for EG Puma all the same.

those days are over. Idra is nothing more than a shadow of his former self. The Lineup is not the absolute top notch lineup we had at the former arenas, but it's still very strong and will provide quite a lot of entertainment. With Hero, Taeja, Violet, Stephano we have still very top players. And I think it's a good opportunity for players like TOP to make an impressive comeback!
