Cup half full, cup half empty. Eh, we can just agree to disagree I suppose. I think we saw the top foreigners perform pretty well. If you look at Sleep, Golden, and Yonghwa's groups, the foreigners they pulled aren't really on top of the scene, with the exception of Mana, who, other than his dreamhack run, is usually bad at PvZ iirc. Sleep played Snute, Happy, Mana, Destiny, Idra in his run out of the foreigners. Mana is the only person that I would really say is on top of the foreign scene. Yonghwa: Slivko, Sheth, DBS, Nerchio (2 losses), Snute, and Bling. The best players here other than Nerchio are Sheth and Bling, and I would call both of them good, but not tournament winning, players. A ro16 finish for them is somewhere where I would expect to see them. Golden: Monchi, Nightend, Ret, Naama. Ret is the only player here who I would say is the best out of these 4, and he only lost 1-2. Sure, they played well, but if Sleep had been in a group with Sase, Nerchio, and Ret, (or any of those other koreans in his place) would they have done as well? While not a clearcut answer, I think you could easily argue that they wouldn't have advanced as easily. In terms of groups, I definitely think they had one of the easiest paths to the finals. (except for golden drawing MVP, but as we see MVP didn't advance) | ||
