His abysmal TvP is now better than his TvZ. Basically, with the patch, his TvZ has become garbage.
We will see. A lot of TvZ losses can be attributed to a loss in confidence rather than actual strategy.

That's actually an awesome story. I became friends with a stereotypical douchey-stoner because I saw that he liked Magic: the Gathering on Facebook.

For sure there are expections, but for the media and the public we are all one. Someone who know's nothing about eSports and see's that video thinks a gamers are hormone defective persons. Don't understand me wrong i like girls but for me its disgusting to see gamers on events which go crazy about a girl which dancs half naked and gets payed for it. I know its just a part of people which do that. But this is what the media see and what they present the viewers. Example: German TV station "RTL" about Gamescom. I want that people see eSport's like the priority see it and a event like this is just contra productive.
PS: Sorry for my pad english skills

No chance you say? Wasn't that what people said about MMA against MVP in the GSL October Finals? Give him time to prepare, and he might just surprise you. I hope for a great series, like the Blizzard Cup.

Well to be honest if people really kept up with how they were doing MMA should have been on at least equal footing to MVP in the GSL. I personally predicted a 4-1 in favor of MMA given how he wrecked MVP in the most recent tournament finals leading up to GSL.
That's pretty nitpicky, but as of now, I'm definitely giving a big edge to DRG, say 85% to win, his zvt has always and still is really really good, and the game is just in favor of zerg atm

MMA was a one of the few players in the fall of 2011 that people thought maybe could beat MVP, or at least put up a fight, but it was definitely a David v Goliath fight, and most people, myself included, felt that way. In fact, check out the LR for the GSL finals:
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=277705 (75% predicted a MVP victory in the polls)
On DRG-MMA right now, I would also favor DRG heavily, probably with about 70% to win.

Liquid'HerO fighting! One of the best PvZ.

The situation is different. MMA vs MVP was no David vs Goliath... maybe in terms of accompishments but not in terms of skill. MMA had already shown he was capable of taking out MVP multiple times in their previous encounters but many people dismissed it because it wasn't in the GSL. MVP was heavily favored because he was a multi champion, terran king, and everyone considered him OP. MMA was winning a lot of games back then.
Right now MMA's in a slump. His TvP has improved but his TvT is shaky and he has no answer vs Zergs. If this was pre-patch, pre-mass queens, and MMA was still in good shape, I'd give it a 50/50 chance. Now he has nothing going for him against what most people consider the best Zerg in the world, especially against T. He has no chance.... well you can't really count MMA out, maybe 10-20%.

Why did they invite illusion ? just to get more NA viewers ?
Anyway good luck to him ! hope he can manke an upset

Illusion fighting!! If he can win one of his seris he will be impressing lots of people! best of luck!
edit; to make it clear, im pretty sure he is capable on taking a series off hero/mma - drg is alot harder but i actually think illusion is one off the guys (idra's words here) who is playing tvz way better then most terrans do now. aswell illusion does practice on KR ladder so he does know the meta there.

Illusion's name has been talked about more than MMA's the past couple of months. Im interested to see what he can do against the best zerg and a top 5 toss in the world. 2 GSLs, 1 MLG, 1 IEM, 2nd in the IEM WC, MLG and the Super Tournament, top 4 at both IPL events, led his team to 2 GSTL championships. He's the most accomplished player of the 4, though given the meta game and how each player have been playing, DRG is the favorite.
How many of those were last year?

About 2/3 of them. Still, just because a win was from last year doesn't mean it doesn't count. MMA has won Iron Squid pretty recently (only less than 2 months ago) :p

Anyway good luck to him ! hope he can manke an upset Its an American event in fucking LA, obviously having an American player involved is going to be good for awareness. Besides, its not like Illusion is just some guy. I dont like his chances but he's more than capable of making some noise in this kind of format.

Sweet. I was on the fence about going to this year's event but with IPL I'll be going for sure.

DRG should have this, but really hope Illusion will do well
