I don't think it was expected as people like SeleCT amongst others missed out on points, but he was a pretty good player back then. He was way better at rage quitting and flaming though

Not sure if the tale is true, but I've heard that Nerchio is the reason why MorroW gave up playing ZvZ.
could be, but many top pros crushed him ZvZ

No, at the time Ciara was pretty well known if you followed the American dailies. The competition was a little higher in the TLOpens, but given his consistent finals appearances in the dailies, a qualification through these kinds of tournaments was not entirely surprising.

Not sure if the tale is true, but I've heard that Nerchio is the reason why MorroW gave up playing ZvZ. I don't think it's ever been confirmed, but it certainly looked like that. MorroW couldn't touch Nerchio in zvz, lost too him in several small tournaments. iirc in one duel he changed race and it stayed that way.

Im just hoping we get a few big upsets in the main tournament, thats what made TSL3 so exciting. Im sure we'll get a couple

Did Ciara even make units? I'm pretty sure he basically had nothing but drones.

Ciara made it through on points sharing second place with morrow which in one was is more indicative of skill because of consistency. If you remember the games from his TLO #8 run it was really clear that he was one of the better players at the time(long time). Also he was one of the stronger players at EU ladder at the time.
From TL Open 8 vs Moonglade 2-1 Tarson 2-0 White-ra 2-0 Thorzain 2-1 Kas 1-3
Why does everybody have to be "trolling" all the time the second someone finds a seemingly controversial statement.

I feel like he'd totally fall apart to a Nydus here, but then again i am the world's worst zerg so it's probably a bad idea :D

I'm pretty sure he basically had nothing but drones. I just watched the game. He made quite a few zerglings (20ish in total), targeted MC's stalkers with them while MC microed them in a way that the stalkers ran circles around the zealots while the zealots killed the zerglings. Then he just smashed him. The game was 7 minutes 36 seconds, MC did not expand and he did lose one Zealot and one probe.
