The problem is that is pretty much what defines Team Liquid. A family-like, close-knit small team of friends. It's also what a lot of the more casual (and thus quite numerous) community wants to see: a personable, community-friendly foreigner team that's fighting against the Korean elites on their own turf. I don't think many people would be happy if Liquid transformed into a collective of more or less faceless practice machines, much like FXO did. And in the end the community is all that matters, because without community no viewers, no viewers no ESPORTS etc.

Will Taeja be there for their next match? Well TLO almost qualified, lost 1-2 in the finals, so please inform yourself before making such harsh judgments. Jinro and Haypro are IMO good players, but not great, and just good is simply not enough against the brutal Korean competition. SO what that TLO almost qualified? Remember Cyrix? (the awful player that Ret played against in GSL long time ago), he actually qualified for Code A, but fact remains still that he was awful player nad vanished quickly. I dont hate TLO or anything - I am sorry to say that because guy was actually fun to watch during beta, but gameplay level is still increasing and in this new enviroment TLO skills are not up to par. The same holds true for Jinro and HayprO. Liquid can choose one of two paths: became competitive SC2 team, or remain big family of young guys that like to play SC2. If they want to choose the first path they need to change their rooster quickly. no, but TLO played really well. if someone qualfiies for code A by proxy 2 gating every game and winning vs someone qualifying for code a through long intense macro games who do you think is more impressive? He didnt play well enough, because he didn't qualified. Period. True, the same is true for Puma. Another unskilled player that will never qualify for code A. Or maybe not qualifying for code A has a lot to do with luck as well as skill.
Well in case of Puma, hypothesis of luck is backed up by his recent achievements. I give you that. So tell me, what in the last year TLO achieved, what big tournaments he won?

Well, that's unfortunate for Liquid. I wonder how it could have gone if Taeja had been fielded though, and not gone to RBL. The All-kill format is very momentum based, and I think Taeja should have been able to beat Life, and thus kill Zenex's momentum.
Hopefully Liquid can also get Ret and Sheth to come in for the next match against NSH. No team can compete effectively in the GSTL if they are missing 3 of their top players.

I liked Life's play in his game against Hero. Super-greedy, but bearing in mind two things, Hero who isn't known for being aggressive early; and he wouldn't be expecting to win against Hero playing standard on entombed valley anyway. So if he got punished, it was worth a try, but not getting punished gave him that massive economy lead

I guess you are right, but it raises a question why they even bother?
As of now it all looks like half assed attempt. They hired Koreans, they started team house in Korea, they send their players there. If someone tries that hard, one should commited completely - otherwise it is wasting of opportunities and resources.

So much TL fandom this time around. Really a favourite ? Without Taeja they were like 50/50 or Zenex just a slight favourite, with Taeja TL would be a slight favourite. Or did you forget how many players of TL were in Ro8 of GSL or in code S recently and how many Zenex had/has there ? TL has more imbalanced team with some heavyweights and some much weaker players, whereas Zenex has more balanced one. But to say Zenex was clear favourite is as misguided as saying TL is clear favourite. Without Taeja, I would say ZeNex are big favorites. Zenio hasn't been doing the best lately and is hovering around Code A~ish level. Jinro had to take on coaching duties and wasn't at his best. Haypro didn't even try to qualify for Code A, so I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't in the best shape. That leaves you with TLO and Hero. Both are great players, but you can't expect them to carry. ZeNex just has a ridiculously deep line-up. The team could be considered the best at actually developing talent. Life, Harrier, and Xtreme were all coming off qualifying for Code A and Line just got into Code S. That isn't even mentioning Avenge and a few others who were inches away from qualifying for Code A this season. ZeNex last season was a bridge between the Old ZeNex of Coca, Byun, Puzzle and the New ZeNex with their new stars. If they can keep Life, Harrier, Xtreme, etc., then they will become one of the best teams in Korea. They're all pretty inexperienced, but if they can get some confidence, don't be shocked if they make a run. Their 2nd place during the KSL wasn't a fluke. I would not be shocked, they are good.
But I am not convinced as what I saw from Zenex players apart from Life makes them nearly as likely to be all-killed by Hero as Life all-killing TL. My opinion on Zenio would be similar to yours if he did not have the strange ability to win against the odds and even though his play seems "ugly" it is strangely working.
