great tournament!! Despite some techincal difficulties which i'm sure will be solved next time this was simply amazing. Kinda makes me considering going to paris just to visit the next final (if there will be one)

highlights for me were:
ZvZ being amazing between nestea and symbol.
MMA winning
ALIZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
There is no shame in defeat so long as the spirit is unconquered. | Cheering for Maru, Innovation and MMA!

I missed the finals, but the event has been good throughout and the last day was just amazing even if the production was not perfect (sound issues, which seem to spare no organizer). But again, this first-time no-name tournament managed to up quite a few big players with their choice of guests and custom-made music.
I am truly looking forward to the next event, and good luck to them.

Want to echo the applause for Iron Squid putting on a great tournament. A few minor problems that will hopefully be fixed for next season, but would love for this to become a regular event. The individual player themes was such a great touch, I have the playlist saved and listen to it while laddering

every pro zerg in the world would hatch first there. That wasn't the issue.

what was the issue?

That a strategy like proxy two-rax getting scouted and still doing so much damage on a regualr opening is problematic.
Symbol would have been dead hadn't he been lucky to find out.

why is that problematic? he scouted it after both raxes were almost done and after he had already invested in hatch first (a build a proxy 2-rax is intended to punish).

what other opening is zerg supposed to use against terran?

u cannot scout a 2 rax in time to do anything other than hatch first, symbol got a 13 pool and STILL couldnt prevent a bunker.

how is that not problematic?

even if he had opened 14/14, mma would see no expo, lift his rax, drop a cc, build a bunker or two, and still be ahead.

i see no problem with terrans abusing zerg's apparent inability to innovate.

Ya, zergs really should innvoate their entire game plan 3 minutes in the game. There are countless unexplored options before 16 supply.

down 1-3 on a cross-positions map against MMA. dont play the safest early build (pool first). yeah, still not feeling too much pity.

One would think the fact that you're bronze league would dissuade you from continuing to give shit advice. But no. That doesn't seem to hinder you at all.

You should go on reddit. You seem to fit right in with the rest of them. That's where the people who haven't had the game installed on their computers for 1½ year, but still feel entilted to give theoretically revolutionary advice, go to circlejerk.

Players looked like they had fun too, and were enjoying the party even after a loss and even if those koreans are rather shy.
That's not always the case, especially in big tournaments with hundreds of players, this event with only the best 4 was a really good thing, was fun, a good show a felt more like a party than a competitive tournament. The P&T touch.
So GG Pomf & Thud and their team, you guys did a great job.

Analytical commentators aren't bad, but they are far too many currently.
GSL for instance is 100% analytical currently (wolf, khaldor, artosis : analytical, tasteless : not-entertaining anymore, so called play by play commentating to hide his ignorance).

My opinion is 100% the opposite! Too many "play by play" commentators, too few qualified analytic commentators.

Symbol macro isn't good at all, he forgot to make units so many games. Like the last game when MMA was constantly making 10 units simultaneously, Symbol had none in his production tab and 2k,1k in banks. He deserved to lose anyway, too bad Nestea fucked up his semi in his best MU, otherwise it'd be a bit better to watch. Or may be Alive vs MMA in the final would have been much better opponent for MMA lol.

No she didn't. Alizee is pretty much dead in France. Her international career may be still going but inviting Alizee to an event like that would get the whole crowd so down, they would start riots and strikes !

Play by play is a totally redundant role; people can see what the fuck is on the screen. Atmospheric and in-depth analysis should be the two 'types' of casting. If you don't know the game, don't talk about it. Our caster standards are just way too low.

These French casters, without the best game knowledge, did a much better job actually casting because they didn't just try to tell me what was happening like we were having a beer at home. They shouted and got excited, which helps get me excited - and shit, even if I don't know what's going on, that excitement is entertaining. How did the foreign scene casters not learn this from all the Korean BW casts everyone watched =/

And for those who aren't sitting 2 inches from their monitor with a spreadsheet taking notes, the majority, they'll listen to play-by-play.

If watching a sport becomes a mental effort, it's being presented wrong, hence the reason practically every sport uses play-by-play commentary. Hundreds of millions of viewers, trillion dollar worldwide industry. DERAILED BY RANDOM GUY ON FORUM (or not as the case may be)

Too bad nobody noticed this event until the finals. I remember a lot of great games from the groupstage. I guess it kept out the Stephano fanatics tho :D would have loved to see their reaction to his going 1-3.
I think it's finally time to admit it might not be the year of Pet

People should give Fionn some love because he did write a preview article off his own initiative, there was just no one around for him to get it spotlighted in any way (you can find it in sc2 general)

Yeah, why did TL boycott them. Well not exactly, that's a heavy word, but you get the point.
