Never ever 15k are so stupid to pay 10$ for a 8-man tourney with so many stupid and senseless games. 30 posts, joined yesterday... Thanks for contributing to the discussion.... The games aren't senseless or stupid and the fact that you get to watch 8 of the best players duke it out is amazing. MLG is doing a great job, Dreamhack is doing a great job. Stop bashing for not reason. At least be on TL for a few months or years before you make shitty posts like these.

Yes, in the GSL. Genius was never proficient in compressed tournaments. EDIT: I've never seen so many proxy expansions on a map before.

My mind was blown by Sundance's statement on Live On Three, that someone needs to pay the price of the players travels, and that MLG might as well be the ones taking the losses. That's not how a sustainable business/industry is supposed to be run. You just don't voluntary take losses for some kind of altruistic reasons just because the teams are not well run enough. I'm not sure if he was FOS when making that statement or if that's actually the way MLG is reasoning. From MLG:s perspective it's possible it makes sense to pay for travels, but that should basically be considered a subsidy from the prize pool to players/teams who are less likely to take part of the actual prize pool. That is, if they pay for travels, it should reduce the prize pool to compensate in a way that MLG are still not running a loss. If costs are increased in one area, they need to be reduced in others. I don't think SC is big enough for the travel fees and staff fees organizers dish out each major tournament. The scene grew too big, too fast, imo, and that's why organizers have to resort to these PPV schemes to try and stay afloat. The problem is the viewers, as well - people don't want to watch online tournaments, which forces organizers to go for the broke. Running an online tourney is easy and cheap. A guy in his spare time is able to run a $1000 online tournament and get a few big names to show up. But the viewers don't want that. They want IPL and MLG to fly in 20+ players from all over the world to a huge, expensive venue, but don't want to pay for it. That's just not going to work.
