No but seriously, with China stepping in, Dota 2 is gonna rock the esports world. Go DOTA!!

But I hope good Euro teams like NaVi keep the dominance over the scene.
The last thing I want for Dota 2 scene is being swarmed with Chinese players.

Why is it so important to some people that the Koreans dominate everything? What is the payoff?

I much prefer the underdog-story of the talented few foreigners, who can stand up to the mass of Korean pro players. To each his own, i guess.

I've watched koreans so much I feel more attached to them than foreigners, plus add the fact that most of the metagame innovations and game progression comes from them, and that the best players in the world are koreans. Also, they put the largest amount of effort in starcraft, I like to see effort well rewarded.

Stephano is there, HuK and Naniwa are almost there but not quite as much. Other than them, there's no one really.

It's pretty surprising how quickly the Asian teams are adapting to Dota 2, from the original. Almost all of the big Chinese teams have switched, and more are in the process of switching.

I wish it would've been that easy with SC2.

I wonder how much money IGN is losing organizing this event.

what makes you think that?

250,000+ viewers for both LoL and SC2 makes him wrong imo

You think 250,000 is enough to make a profit? Most are not paying $5 a month.

Well I'm no business expert but with sponsors + commercials and the crowd at the venue should rake in some money.. Hey maybe I'm wrong, I don't know.

Sponsors defray costs, but they don't provide profits. And some of them are just providing equipment or services. Advertising, even to 250k + viewers over the internet is not a lot of money, compared to the costs for the venue, equipment, paying casters/crew, chair set up, bribing the mafia, design and overhead costs, streaming bandwidth costs...

There's a LOT of money to be lost in running events. The ticket sales and VIP packages might make them some money, but they start off pretty far in the red.

Thanks for nice answer dude, I expected someone to rip me a new one for being stupid..
Also 'bribing the mafia' had me laughing :D

This... Though apparently Illusion is where its at as well. It'd be awesome if he could recreated his play here at more tournaments, especially at such a young age.

SC2 in China was met with resistance from WC3 fandom, much like BW fandoms resisting SC2 in Korea.
