They are providing travel and housing because it allows for players from all over the world to compete in the event no matter what, unless they don't want to or have a conflict. It lets teams with less money/high caliber players save some money because they won't lose money if they send their qualified player who then could get out in the first round, getting no return (though of course it is also about getting their name out there/sponsorship, but it is also nice to not have spent more money on travel then you get in prizes). It also encourages the highest level of competition to come from around the world. | ||
