No, they're terribad. They were talking about it on Inside The Game yesterday. You don't auto-lose, but they're basically not very good at all.
9 times out of 10, when Stephano as well as most top level zergs win with Ultra's they've already won.
And Darkforce almost did throw away that game.
No you are wrong. Stephano techs to Ultralisks as fast as possible and he needs them because he doesn't build any/a lot of banelings.
Darkforce didn't need Ultralisks in the game, but it's always good to have an army with Ultralisks if you can afford them, because you are not as much depended on Banelings.
Also Darkforce didn't almost throw the game away, that was a horrible call by Bitter. He sniped the engineering bay and you can't defeat high upgraded Ultra/Ling/Infestor with 0/0 or 1/1 marines. There was no way Darkforce could have lost that and he played it super safe all the time.
When you have a huge upgrade advantage there's a timing when Ultra's are good, but 9 times out of 10 generally when you're that far ahead in upgrades you tend to be ahead in general and can just kill them anyway. Ultras are very rarely the reason a person wins a game. If anything, they tend to just be a formality.
Darkforce played that last game like a dumbass. He didn't drone, and he wasn't aggressive. If there's anyway to throw a game that's what you do after a huge advantage.
No you are not ahead 9 times out of 10. That's simply wrong. I watched a lot of Stephano replays and Vods because I wanted to learn the style and Ultralisks are very important to be successful with his style. As long as there are not to many marauder/siegetanks you can always use Ultralisks. If there are to many marauder and tanks, you switch to Broodlords.
I watch stephano stream on a regular basis. He also beats grandmaster players with pure ling builds. If you're just simply better than you're opponent you can make a lot of stupid shit look viable.
Unlucky from Killer, I thought there were times there he might have been able to take it and before hand I thought this would be a complete walkover for Supernova.
Having said that the late game multitasking strength of Koreans showing through, at least Supernova got a bit of a scare, I like it when foreigners remind them they can't play half arsed games and win.
