You can verify this by measuring the frequency of the hum - it should be exactly 50Hz, the frequency of the alternating current in Germany. If you can, get a trained sound engineer on site, ideally some older guy who has experience with the analog side of things. (As far as I know there is no simple fix to this, as it depends on the connections between the audio equipment, plus the details of the power wiring to each piece of machinery.) Possibly workaround: filter out the 50Hz hum electronically in the digital sound stream. This will not eliminate it completely, but could make it much more bearable. Well, there are 2 'easy&dirty' possible fixes for that. =) One is to unplug the power of the computer and plugging it back in upside down, a very cheap try to cancel the hum, but it doesn't always work. The other option is to physically disconnect the grounding of the audio wire, depending on the plug used, that can be as simply as wrapping a piece of tape around the bottom of the plug or pressing a button on the device. But it can cause a variety of other issue and usually isn't a good idea.. Aside from those last resort options, yeah the only solid way to actually fix it is a professional technican, who knows what he's doing and has the proper tools available to deal with it, but for some reason I doubt they have one available, as they haven't fixed it nor seem to know what's wrong, which seems quite obvious after hearing that they 'unplugged everything', but there's no point in unplugging things (which I assume as 'only audio wires', since the stream wasn't down long enough for a reboot), when you plug all connections back in, in the same way and don't isolate the connection that causes the issue. Either way it sucks, for the people in the venue, because the waiting was boring and for the people at home, because nothing happens.. :/ | ||
