Actually I have an explanation for his victory at Columbus and his lacklustre result at Providence.

Looking at the predictions from the TL Preview threads:
Columbus:
Favorites:
1. ST_Bomber oGs.MC
2. Dignitas.NaNiwa
3. IM.Losira
4. ROOT.KiWiKaKi
5. SlayerS_MMA

Providence:
The Guy That Will Win: MMA

Clearly, ESPORTS gods are out to screw over TL predictions. Therefore SuperNova and Puzzle to advance today.

Puzzle is highly overrated, and MMA won't be OZ or Supernova in a prepared BoX match, in my opinion.

I could see why you could put Oz over MMA, but why Supernova over MMA in a prepared BoX match? I've always felt that over the past few months, MMA and Coach Ryu Won have been a near unstoppable force when it comes to preparation of strategies, with MMA beating MVP 4-1 in GSL October and 3-0 in the Blizzard Cup. If anything, I would say that having a prepared match helps MMA significantly, as he has performed very well under such circumstances.

This. MMA plays poorly in stuff like Providence where he has no time to prepare against an opponent, but he prepares extremely well against each player when given time. His builds are always meant to counter.

Which explains why he won in Columbus, came in second in Anaheim, won Kiev, and owns the Team League. Thank you.

It does? Can you explain why he was so poor at IPL getting 3-0ed by Lucky? He was in a spot of bother at Columbus a few times, but won despite killing his own orbital against Idra. Most of the competitors there were not Code S material, and he faced really only then top player in Losira. Who was the competition at Kiev? A bunch of players that might be Code B? He mentioned in an interview that he had a list of build orders for each map given to him by his Coach that he had practiced. He's such a preparation heavy player.

As a general rule he's a very good player, but he's a generally a great player when he prepares. Just take a look at how he beat MVP in GSL October. Most of those were planned builds and styles for each map to counter what Mvp would most likely be doing. Its his preparation that makes him so good at GSL and the like.

And honestly, GSTL? He's great in it, but in Bo1s? He cheesed Oz with a bunker against a nexus first last week. He's good at sniping, and generally a good player, but give him a sudden BoX vs. a truly top player, and his play level is markedly different in comparison to a prepared match. As much as I like him (and he's my favorite player), his results in GSTL are hardly the yardstick I use to measure his play.

And Fionn, do you not like MMA?

I'll be bold and say Oz and Puzzle. SuperNoVa might be figured out with his constant 111ing and MMA's PvT is not good at all. Puzzle and Oz on the other hand use creative all-ins but are still prone to and do very well in the late game while I feel is the 2 terran players downfalls. Only way I see terran winning/getting out of this group is using allins or SuperNoVa just 111ing... again.

bleh, I guess you probably dislike him anyway. MMA must be the best Terran in the world at the moment, he has no opponent in TvZ and TvT, and today he will prove that his TvP will be one of the best as well.

His TvT does not look that unstoppable except when he plays MVP.

Didn't MMA (and the other Slayers Terrans) lose to Lucky just because he kept doing Roach Baneling all ins? I don't remember Lucky playing a long game against MMA. I'm not saying Lucky is bad or cheesy since it was a good move to do that in a time when those Terrans were all being super economically greedy, but still you shouldn't just take the score and conclude MMA sucks or something.

MMA is a beast, but as you can tell from the MVP haters coming out of the woodwork people don't like success, people would rather root for the underdog. It's really sad when good players get a negative backlash as an irrational response to their success.

Really? Okay. I'll keep it in mind. But since you went to vent about your personal opinions, I will vent mine.

My threads as they are now are 100x better.
