I wouldn't call it baseless.

I suppose ignorance and stupidity is not limited to the United States.

Stephano mismanaged his time; too bad for him, but organizers are not to be wronged for demanding that a player abide to arrangements he willingly made. (I am not sure about the letter of their rules, but given that they are a barcraft I will justify an abuse to provide a final.)

That argument makes 0 sense. Tennis players forfeit minor tournaments all the time if they feel an injury is coming up or they aren't feeling well. If you want to make a real comparison it would be someone forfeiting the GSL finals vs ur comparison >.>

Sadly I must tell you those are BATTLES not wars... just during WWII... apperently the french won 4 times and lost 2....

I don't think anyone actually believes those jokes, they're just the standard joke for france. Just like Americans being fat and ignorant, Irish are all alcoholic, and all dutch wear clogs.

My point is, as you continue to be oblivious to, is that that little sentiment is both silly and irrelevant. Taking away focus from the fact that it is still not okay, no matter what word you use to describe it.

You can't blame ONOG when Stephano presumably agreed to their situation. When push came to shove though, he just said fuck it and that's all you can really say about that.
even if he played, it would have been prolly sloppy/far from his A game and it wouldn't have made a good final for the barcraft
makes no sense for ONOG to plan things like this either way

Deny him the reschedule I think was wrong, considering the finals is against Kas who is even more tired and would for sure have accepted - but this can be argued - but you can't just take away his placing. He got second in this tournament, you can't just move standings around as you please. At least not without taking a serious credibility hit. This is more a series of showmatches than a tournament now. Yea he is right. Give him his money, he earned it. The lesson for tournaments like this is is that people who make 70k a year in tournament winnings dont really care that much about some puny 3k tournament. So invite people accordingly. I agree with this, if this is meant to be a fun two days of SC2, don't make the gaps between players so vast. Even if flo/tyler/inc/destiny etc. are good, who would have predicted them in the finals? Better choices from Europe would have been TLO, Ret, White-Ra and the list goes on. They chose to invite Stephano and Kas because they were highly rated players but neglected the fact that those two are probably the best Europeans not in Korea and they will act accordingly. What Stephano did is kind of crappy but there is no doubt that if this was a regular tournament, both Kas and Stephano would have agreed to reschedule. In the end this is a barcraft thing and there must have been some sort of miscommunication between organizers and players regarding this since they treated it like an online cup/tournament.
|
why do they invite europeans when they play till 5 am.
european online tournaments inviting americans are not at such terrible times. bad organization, cant blame stephano for forfeiting after such a day. ONOG found a way to make the whole outcome of the tournament meaningless with a decision both players wouldve agreed on. well done, every other online tournament wouldve simply resceduled.

Those arent even wars, and most of them are single battles won,
here's an example of this "war"
Operation Baliste - July 2006 The French Navy is successful in extracting nearly 15,000 people to safety, an operation brought about by the 2006 Lebanon War.
Let me just link to a website and prove my point : /
