wow what an astounding discovery, humans are humans, even progamers.

After watching Sase played totally exhausted and get dismantled, I understand stephano's decision. Those matches would have been meaningless, even absurd.

Can't say that I'm suprised by Stephano's move, after all he does lack some maturity.

Hey everyone, I'm the President of ONOG. I just wanted to clear up the air regarding Stephano's and Illusion's match.

The problem is not with Stephano but with us. After SCAN finished, Stephano asked if he could take a break and get some food. We told him he could. This caused him to late. Since One Nation of Gamers gave Stephano the green light, we couldn't -in fairness- disqualify him.

We shouldn't have told Stephano it was alright without, at least, asking vileIllusion's permission.

We apologize to vileIllusion, Team Vile and to the community. We will try to do better in our second Invitational.

Best,
Deric Ortiz
President of One Nation of Gamers

I think I'll take a note from Stephano and go to bed also, i'll wake up tomorrow and check liquipedia and hope Kas destroys whoever he's up against for being invited to something where he won't finish playing until 4AM and they make up rules on the spot including docking players $600 that they had earned

This. 100% this.

Is Kas considered the best foreigner right now? Any plans for him to compete in Korea? I'm just thrilled to see a second foreign terran hit that skill level.

Apart from Nerchio, he is most definitely the best foreigner to never recieve korean training. Don't know how much practice DIMAGA had but at least he was there for a while

wow fuck you stephano

Sure, 2 AM in France, super tired, played all day and playing from the same amount of money he does in the same streaming period, of course it's not nice for viewers but it's understandable. It's totally in his right to give Kas the win, and admins do have the right to find another solution so viewers are happy. Of course, it's sad because you don't see more Stephano games, but it's noone fault here

You say he makes $1500usd for playing 5~9 games when streaming?
Doesn't seem right to me.

I was actually referring to the 750$ difference between 1st and 2nd place (posted before I knew he would be downranked), and yeah, considering 5 9 games is 2 / 3 hours, it is probably not that far.
No, he could not make anywhere near that amount of money streaming for a similar duration, kind of ridiculous to think that.

Speaking as a Kas fan, I think he's probably not the best foreigner. I do think he is the best foreign terran, though.

if idra did that because hes tired and doesnt give a shit, would the reactions be the same?

ofc stephano couldve handeled it better, but what do you want him to do? he played 4pm till 11pm in the scan invitational and won it without dropping a map.
then onog started without a pause in between and he played the semis till 2 am - just to play another final. i undestand that he is not willing to play it, cause he simply doesnt feel like brining anything near his A game - he allined all games vs illusion and lost to a bunkerrush he usually never should and wouldnt under normal circumstances.

if he plays it out like that and loses to kas, all the haters appear and call him a bad player. the tournament shouldve found another way, why not simply play out the finals tomorrow? stephano brings them tons of viewers, they shouldnt forget that

They can't play the finals tomorrow. This is for Barcrafts, there is no tomorrow for them.

Kas is actually in basically the same boat. He didn't get to the finals of scan, but he did get to the semis, and he's an hour later.

Nothing about that but some of you NA fans are funny holy shit man the shit Idra do to you guys each year and when some french zerg is tired and cant keep his eyes up you rdy to shoot him..

Hillarious

Idra throws out some harmless BM in game. Stephano ruins a tournament finals because the tournament was delayed...even though it was delayed to accommodate him. Bad manner can be forgiven, I don't think I've ever seen Idra do real damage to a tournament.

Stephano all-ined Illusion the last 2 games, it would have been all in fest against Kas anyway, I don't think we missed a great match.

This. Stephano could have done 4 drone rushes against Kas in 10 min, banked 750$ and go to sleep. Forfeiting is actually the best thing to do when you can't play any more...It remembers me some tennis tournaments, a player hurts himself, knows he won't be able to play the next match but as he is close to victory he keeps on playing the current one to get points & money. He gets praised for fighting spirit, and not downranked...

Lol comparing tennis to sc2 for real? give me a break.

And so what ? esports has sports in it for a reason, no ? Of course, if even supporters see esports as a joke, no way it will grow up to actually be respected by a lot of ppl.
This said, ofc the situation is different, Stephano isn't (to our knowledge) hurt or anything, just awfully tired and not in the condition to play (or he would have played, believe me).

Lol. Yeah because the players should dictate when matchups happen and not the league/organizers. Do you realize all the silly implications of your post? Because a player failed to plan ahead then the entire organization including the casters and viewers and streamers should roll over and submit?

Close.
He is definitely in the top 5 foreigners, and best Terran, tied with thorzain.
But thats just my opinion^^

It's hard decision. They probably made the right call. They owe people a finals after all.

Don't worry, Stephano still the best.
