He has been GM level in EU before but for the most part hes usually just top masters and gets matched against some EU pros every so often. Protoss is his main race but is off race zerg was also at mid master at one point.

err not sure, Artosis isnt that good, he knows the game really well, but his play isnt overly impressive. (what do you expect when hes been barely playing until late december? no offense to him)
But yeah Artosis would be up there, day9 maybe (in the same boat, doesnt play much)
I dont know how much gretorp still plays, but he was good before, same with painuser.
Id say either gretorp or painuser are #1, but artosis is up there, could be better, its hard to say when we dont get to see casters play that often

I've never actually seen Rotterdam play. i think you might be right but in a direct battle rdam vs artosis i would bet on rotti. his pvp has always been his best matchups and he was actually beating some of europe's best in pvp.
I think he mentioned @some cast that he has beaten MC too while MC was laddering @EU.
