Everyone is welcome. We expect to have everywhere from bronse to grandmasters league. We are trying to get one last sponsor for some door prizes given to misc. categories that are not necessaraly based on skill, and low leaguers will get a chance to meet and play with those whome they can learn a lot from.

Can we use our own laptop with a wireless mouse?

I don't see a problem with this, any interference you receive using a wireless mouse however is your responsibility. That however would be someone with the exact bluetooth setup or RF receiver to cause that issue. Just don't sit next to someone else with it.

I hope everyone is practicing up! Just over a week left!
May want to update the main post with exactly what equipment to bring once that is established.

How so, gamers generally know what a computer is.
At anyrate, talked to Slasher for a little bit on the NYC vs DC match today. He said Chicago doesn't know how to throw LANs. Ladies, Gentlemen, and Ulfsark, I propose we prove him wrong.
We already did with the Black Friday and Christmas LANs - I doubt they had anything close to what we did :-p
Slasher likes to create controversy it would seem.
Lol Slasher you usually disregard anything he says once he comes into a convo
I have heard that there is a metra stop pretty close to the place. So if anybody wants to take the metra Somebody would probably be able to give you a ride from the station to the event.
30 people pre-enrolled. I'm working out additional table space now so that we'll have seating, power, ethernet, and chairs for 50!... "just in case" :-)
If you are bringing your own computer, make sure you bring a 6-10ft long ethernet cable. Headphones, power cords, and everything else you need. If you forget something we can rent you extra cords for $5. Rip off? Probably, but it's going to be too busy of an event for us organizers to run around and get everyone the things they forgot. So be sure to remember everything and it won't be an issue! as with all income, proceeds will support future events.
Make sure to update the original post with that info as well.
Thanks Ulfsark, I updated the registration page.

What all "named" players are signed up for this? I'd consider going and playing just to meet a few.

QXC and Everize were at the last LAN we hosted as well, so I'm sure they're coming as they've registered. I also see that SlayerSGolden registered which is odd, as I thought he was from and in Korea, so maybe he registered because he wasn't able to read that it was an onsite tournament? Or maybe he's vacationing in Chicago? There will be a LOT of high masters here, and really looking forward to see the skill levels we have here in the windy city :-) We have 42 people registered already, and still expect more. The bar area can fit another 100 people who want to watch the live stream, eat wings, or drink sodas or beer! Parents can bring their teens and rent a console system so they can watch SC2 while their kids are beating each other up in HALO. It'll be an event to remember... Oh, and did I mention it's a FREE EVENT? As in.... $0. Awesome.
I am so happy that LANs and tournaments are starting to be held in chicago, its about time if you ask me!!! I will most likely be coming!! Even though i'm not good....:\
I live in Rockford but don't have enough money and im only a plat terran, sadly i would only bother if i was better...

I took a brief look at the players list so far and other than qxc/Everize, there's also wbc and Ver that signed up.
Will there be opportunities for spectators to come? Im brand new to the game and from what Ive seen theres not much up here in Milwaukee.
Yes, Spectators are welcome, there is a "Barcraft" event being thrown in the SAME BUILDING, where you can watch the live stream as it's being cast, eat, drink, and talk starcraft, and meet the players.
The more spectators the better!
62 players registered. Just went into the building to confirm we'll actually be able to provide the power output needed to run this many gaming machines, Tests Passed, we're ready to go :-)
I regret to inform everyone that SlayersGolden will not make the intercontinental flight to Chicago for this tournament. He emailed us and said "StarcraftChicago fighting!" though.
What's the format and the map pool?
What is the map pool, GSL, MLG, Blizzard, or mix? Want to know so I can start preparing builds.
Format is double elimination, and here is the map pool:
MLG Metalopolis (MLGmaps) MLG Shattered Temple (MLGmaps) MLG Shakuras Plateau (MLGmaps) MLG Tal’ Darim Altar (MLGmaps) MLG Daybreak (MLGmaps) MLG Dual Sight (MLGmaps) MLG Antiga Shipyard (MLGmaps) MLG Xel’ Naga Caverns (MLGmaps)
The format is now that winner bracket will be BO3 , and losers bracket will be BO1 until round of 8, at that point it will become BO3. We had to do this because we now have 80 players who will be playing, and we want to get done before midnight :-)
Hopefully this tournament goes well. And the rental for a pc is only 10 dollars correcT?
Vinski, I would not recommend relying on renting one of their limited PC's - bring your own if at all possible. -----
After much discussion, the official rules for the tournament have been finalized. Please give them a good lookover and contact a tournament admin with any questions. The rounds of 128, 64, and 32(winners and losers) will all be BO1, for which we collectively apologize, but it was our only option in regards to time constraints and the sheer number of players.
Best of luck, everyone, gg gl hf!

Supposedly the reason no one was able to connect to the servers is because the tournament license wasn't white listed.

its a shame every time this happens, this is the reason i dont ever feel like going to local or semi local events =/ This even happens at major events, IPL3 had issues with the IP address blacklisting garbage from blizzard, and so has every MLG ive attended...
If only there was a way to convince blizzard to care about smaller events more...

Well, even the EU Blizzard Invitational was delayed because of this according to Socke in the German equivalent of SotG (if I remember correctly). Blizzard needs to include whitelisting IP addresses into the standard process of licensing tournaments.

When I got back from work, i was really looking fwd to watching these games. On the up side, I'm glad i didn't call in for work. Will next time tho.
