I think that GOM shouldnt make the players play the game after they are knocked out , this game should have been the first or second game...

Anyone knows? i hope they do, i was a naniwa fan until this very moment, now i see the type of person he really is. For the people that say "why play a game that doesnt mean anything" I say to yoou why practice on the ladder or customs at home if your a pro player? Why play a game against one of the best zergs in the world if not only for practice? Seems like a pretty stupid response "why play a game if it doesnt mean anything" you realise thats what pro players do all day everyday

He didn't want to play the game and rather than forfiet he did a worker rush. There's nothing wrong with it. It's an all in like every other one and he lost. It's not disrespectful. It's disrespectful as an organisation to force Naniwa to play a game that doesn't mean anything. Are you completely retarded? They are not organizing all these tournaments to serve the money for the players, it's for the fans. E-sports is also business and can't live without fan support. Behaviour like this really hurts GOM and they should take some kind of action. Imagine this kind of situation in football/hockey world cup, players not trying, just sitting and waiting for time to pass. They would be mauled... It was really unprofessional from Naniwa, agreeing to take part in tournament means you should follow the rules. If system says groups should be played to set full ranking, so be it. It does mean something, many people were looking forward to this game. Sportsmanship is about taking the losses too. I'm pretty sure we will find out that this match ment much more than Nani thought.

Reaction 1. That was hilarious and understandable from Naniwa's perspective. It was a pointless game anyway and wouldn't have been good even if they played. Reaction 2. That was disrespectful to the community, the organizers, the fans, and the other players who don't even get the chance to play on live TV. But you've got to all realize that BOTH THESE OPINIONS ARE VALID from a PERSONAL perspective. You can hold whatever opinion you want. However, the simple fact that there exist many people from the second viewpoint who were indeed offended, makes Naniwa's actions wrong. If he offends half the community and the company organizers, that's THEIR opinion, just as it is your opinion that the game was funny and understandable. Therefore, Naniwa's decision was a bad one. Let it end there please.

He went 0-3 in a huge tournament and gets eliminated and is then forced to play a game that doesn't matter. He does not play this game to entertain you so stop being spastics. A few pages back someone actually said they hope it's the end of his Starcraft career.. like seriously? Wow... nice language

I respect Naniwas decision. 1. Sportsmanship 2. He had the opportunity to earn money, partially funded by people who pay to watch the games. 3. It's not just about him. If Nestea is going to take the time to play against him, the casters are taking the time to cast the game and GomTV is taking the time to broadcast the match, then he should play. That selfish mentality is the whole reason people label Naniwa as immature. There's nothing wrong with that kind of behavior on the ladder, but when you're a PROFESSIONAL player, there's a certain code of conduct people are expected to follow. If he wants to forfeit, he should just state so instead of doing some stupid shit like that. Can you imagine how fucking disrespectful doing a 7 probe rush is to Nestea who is expecting a re-match? Quoted for truth. I think this is worse than what slayers coca did. Very unprofessional, bad sportsmanship and immature. I thought he did ask to forfeit, and they wouldn't let him. I mean ... just giving up seems better to me ... I would be surprised (and I would agree with you) if Naniwa didn't ask to forfeit the match. I think and hope that he did indeed do this. Sure it's not all about the players, but the players wishes should be respected as well. Who would want to play a showmatch that didn't mean anything after losing three games and getting knocked out of the tournament.

On December 13 2011 21:22 IMPrime wrote: As for comparing this to professional games, this is WAY different. To use the Colts example someone brought up, the colts games will at least determine the draft order for the next season, whereas naniwa vs nestea has absolutely no meaning other than pride. It would be more like a preseason game where teams use 2nd and 3rd strings very often (which could be seen as "throwing games"). You are right there, I suppose I can't actually directly correlate the colts to this situation since while the colts, like Nani, have nothing to gain at all, their opponents have something very important to gain by winning. Whereas here nestea winning would have done actually nothing. That does make it a little better, but still extremely unprofessional of Nani to not even try with an all-in of his own. So I think he should at least be reprimanded + apology, but nothing more severe than that.

Huk's hearts, Idra's premature gg's Nani's throw away of a useless game. It's FUN. I feel people who take personal offense to this take things too seriously. This right here, it didn't affect the outcome of anything so it doesn't matter and that was probably more entertaining than a real game.
