This didn't happen at all the MLG's... remember Anaheim and Columbus were amazing. It's just the venue they chose at Providence, the population there didn't seem as into the game. It's not something MLG can control if the crowd wants to leave... but next time, MLG may smarten up and hold their events in SoCal from now on. Why risk poor crowds traveling around when you can have an awesome crowd every time in Anaheim? People are trying to compare apples to oranges and forget the MLG is a traveling thing and always deals with a different venue, a way different type of tournament, and a way different business model.
Agreed. However, I do want to emphasize that I feel MLG should be stationary in SoCal. I'm not being biased here as I don't live in Socal. But the crowd in Anaheim/LA is just unmatched in SC2 and they always pack the venues. I don't understand the point of the traveling thing, it doesn't do much for the business IMO.

Fantastic tournament. One of the best of the year. Would have been wonderful to have a few more top tier Koreans there, but despite their few numbers they still showcase their superior game play. 4 Koreans in finals bracket, 0 lose to foreigners.

They definitely peaced out at Anaheim (the one with MVP winning) that one sticks out in my mind the most. I think MLG needs to do the ceremony right away after the win and not wait like 10 minutes to start it.

i am so happy for HerO! finally a well deserved big tournament win! ^__^

Last MLG was on par with this dreamhack. They can learn from each other in the areas where the other are better at.

They should have added some music when they were holding the prizes, because the way it was they were just standing there with a somewhat silent crowd, asking themselves "so...can i go now or do i just keep holding this?". Other than that the tournament was amazing! :D It's for taking pictures usually you can see a ton of flashes but it was harder to see this time, it's for the press etc.

I don't see a lot of them moving over no matter how much money you throw at them. People thought that of HuK...
That's why I said not all. ;o

Most people travel to get there and have flights and other things to deal with, which is why they don't stay for the ceremony. Europe misses lots of finals because they have to go to bed to go to work the other day.
Sunday night thing is no excuse for the crowd leaving early. Anaheim and Columbus MLG didn't leave early (from what I could tell). It's location location location that matters here.

How is it not an excuse? Have you ever gone to an event where you had to travel and had obligations?

The last day and the tension in finals made up for it, but day 1 especially was quite weak due to the format; every group has 2 weaker players so we get at most one decent match per group and for some reason even good players weren't playing well, koreans aside basically. I also quite dislike how players aren't shown at all until the finals.
