MLG Providence Day 3 Live Report Thread - Page 590

Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly:

- NO Balance Whine.
- NO Player Bashing.
- NO Caster Bashing.
- NO BM whatsoever.

Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment.

Let's hope they get rid of Extended Series in the next season. Getting rid of double elim wouldn't hurt either, single elim makes for way better finals.

Well DRG in between a rock and a hard place, Leenock in control!
With an average game length of 7m36s over his 6 games in GSL3, this is a no-brainer. BitByBit pulls more SCVs than yo momma at a club on Mar Sara. ♞

soooo when are we going to stop calling ourselves foreigners, especially when we're the ones hosting the tourney?!

Never. Korea has by far the biggest scene and the best players. Unless that changes and a massive cultural shift happens somewhere else, it will never change.

Korea is NOT the biggest scene for SC2. Not yet. It's just the best.

You do realize they have local tournaments we don't get to see? Also a shit ton of players we don't get to see.

That is 100% incorrect. The only other tournaments that are on a regular basis are the Korean Weekly and the FXO events. Korea is starved for tournaments.

What tournaments does the US or Europe have that feature some of the best players in the world and the most prize money in the world, that runs almost every weekday?

Or are we pitting the Korean scene against Starcraft 2 all over the world?

Yeah, people saying the korean tournament scene is small? GSL alone gives out more prize money than international combined on a monthly basis.

Prize money does not make a big scene.

Idra didn't bother to play.

There are rumors about 2 code S spots, if all the "between A and S" koreans stay in code S, Haypro could get code S spot and Idra could have gg'ed too soon once again!

So crazy. I think its plausible that Naniwa is the best player in the world right now, I don't know what else to conclude from these results.

One tourney doesn't make you the best player?

I know, but beating the best players in the world head to head does. Its just so rare that 1 player faces and beats all of them in the same tourney run.

It's one thing to win a tourney while getting a great lineup, but Naniwa has beaten the best players in the world each of the past 3 days.

Who would you pick to beat him right now? Nestea? MVP? DRG? MMA? MC? Huk? Leenock? Taeja?

FXOLucky and Check

That was before the dawn of the Naniwa era. Ancient history.

Yea a whole week ago...

Every era was a week old at some point.

Ungrateful brat -.-

What is he ungrateful for? Do you really have that much of a problem with somebody not playing a match that isn't broadcast that doesn't make any real difference or are you just complaining because you can't find it in yourself to enjoy the weekend?

Actually there is a 750$ difference between 7th and 8th place.

LOL. It's better this way, 750$ more for Haypro. Idra gets a salary and all.

you say that as if he couldn't win against idra after beating nestea man ;P

No i'm not. I'm saying Haypro deserves those 750 bucks more than Idra and thus it's better for him that he doesn't need to play for it.

.... cry some more.

He never played those consolation matches. Most people dont play them @ mlg.

Usually its just for points, this was $750.

points are arguably more important as seeding gives you a huge advantage. Look at naniwa so far.

But the system is going to change.

It's a Korean thing, hence Korean Hope!

Obviously I see it's a korean thing, I just kind of expected team mate > country.

Koreans consider country to be more important than most; nationalism is quite big there.

Aren't they both the same thing?

Either way, both players HAVE to win 4 games over Naniwa

Close, but not exactly. In DRG's scenario for example, if he loses 2 games, he loses and he has to win 4 games. For Leenock, he can lose 2 games, just not in the same set, if he wins both Bo3's 2-1, he still wins the championship. It's a minor difference.

Hm. Progamers do need to do one more thing to really boost eSports. Whether you're shy, or antisocial, or just a boss, take a note from NASCAR - get your sponsor's name(s) into the conversation every possible way every time. That's what they are really giving you the money for. Other than that, I love the trash talk (genteel as it is), the drama, and even the stoic.

Also, Naniwa will win... because he's just ballertoss.

So, will there be a "Best Signs of the Stream" thread? Some of them are bad, but some (like Kerrigan look alike contest) are pretty funny.

Please don't do this. It gets annoying really fast. It's ok to plug your sponsors but when interviews become an excuse for advertisments 90% of viewers will tune out.

I agree. It's annoying for the viewers. But it increases the business reasons for sponsors to actually give money to teams, players, and tournaments. Which helps improve the production values, prize pools, and ability for pros to focus on just the game. There's a balance to be maintained, but I just notice that progamers hardly ever work the sponsor names into any interviews. I mean, just a "Thank you for our sponsors (insert names)" would be good towards the end. And wouldn't kill eSports.
Yes, I email sponsors... to thank them. Don't post drunk, kids. My king, what has become of you?
