I remember when one of the earliest threads about the sentry/prism tactic was made, it got bashed pretty hard for being cute/gimmicky because it wouldn't win in real competitive play...

Oh my god my internet went down as Idra was going for the runby and came back on for his GG. This happens to me every MLG and I missed MMA (my favourite player) play the finals at colorado. This isn't fair.

I play terran but that sentry drop looks very strong. Even borderline abusive because of warp prisms x.x

Uh.... Voidrays > roaches.
It would've taken the roaches 35 years to get into MC's main, meanwhile a few warpins w/ sentires buys more than enough time to hold off IdrA. Then it's gg. That wasn't early.

idra left too early. He could have killed the nat with roaches... MC was still on only 2 bases, and he could have contained MC's army in his main with spines, and make and sac a couple of corruptors against the warpprism... gg, he wins

Part of its strength might be how infrequently it's used. Zergs might be more inclined to make solving it a priority if it was an every game thing.
