How many days of coverage will there be for this Semi-Open?
|
|
The bracket on liquipedia is completely up to date now.
Stephano might get taken out here by Drewbie. This bracket is looking very odd.
|
|
Great play by Drew vs Stephano game 1 !!! Drew drops back in business
|

what maps are these?
are they from the TL competition?

All new maps they are trying out for this tournament

Stephano came out ahead in that engagement, me thinks.
|
stephano just giving away infestors
|
Wow these are pretty sloppy engagements from both players all game long. Terran is more forgiving so drewbie seiging late doesnt cost him the game.
|
Stephano had a brain aneurism or something in that last set.
|
Who's casting with gretorp right now?
|
stephano is awful today :/
|
Not a good day for stephano... he just got manhandled by slayers crank on the other stream, now getting smash by drewbie. =\
|
Gz to drewbie... good defenses/attacks all game.
|
|
really bad play by stephano
|
|
Drewbie looking good Korea agrees with him it seems

Is it me, or are the wrong maps announced?
|
Perhaps Stephano wasn't trying his best because hes going to be in Korea training for the Blizzard Cup when NASL happens
|
One can't always play his best - gratz to Drewbie, nice to see the power of ghosts vs such composition.
|
|
He HAS been practicing in Korea.
|
It is good to see Drew go back to the Drewbie drops they are so affective he needs to keep that harass up
|
People are willing to call strategies in sc2 "all-ins" or "cheese" or what not WAY too easily.
edit: as in, 2 hellions going up a ramp is an 'all in'? lol?
|
Yeah, seems drewbie really powered up in the hyperbolic time chamber known as korea.

Anything that does not involve lifting your CC up and floating it into your opponent's base is an all-in it nowadays it seems...

Why in the world did the zerg not just smash those tanks there?

Unless I misheard, I thought one of the commentators said "Loner going up the ramp with the two hellions without knowing what was up there was really all-in in my opinion."

And concrete dreams The TPW maps are playing well so far, congratulations!

The second map definitely isn't Odyssey.

That's why you scout with an overlord kiddos

I assume missclick? "D" in stead of "z"?

those zelniq games were painful

Drewbie has gotten a lot better. That last game against Major looked painful though.

Attero's pretty good at PvP

drewbie beating stephano? no offense to NASL or drewbie but.. really? Do you guys really have to have fucking unknown maps for a buy in tourney. If you want to test maps find another place to do it.

Cursed... take the fanboy hat off for a second and watch the games... He played SUPER GREEDY and made quite a few poor decisions. Don't use maps as a scapegoat for poor play from one of your favorite players.

super greedy? where was stephanos greed? he just lost all games cause he move commands his army into strange positions and played rly poorly lategame, which is usually clearly his strengh. 8 broodlords movecommand into stimmarines? aye, drewbie played that great :D
Games like that happen, ppl who discredit stephano cause of such a stupid bo3 are just the worst anti-fanboys ever. the games do not change the fact that stephano remains top 3 foreiger with idra and huk at all. Every player loses games he shouldnt from time to time, even idra and huk.
I just wanna remind you, that this game was most likely played a day after some event (since we know that was the reason stephano forfeit his WB1 game). Fruthermore, im pretty sure stephano didnt have the time (or didnt care) to even play the maps once. Dont put too much into these games plz, stephano clearly did mistakes he would never do when it matters.

My question would be: who is the fanboy here? youre from canada, drewbie is from canada. I hope you dont believe drewbie could ever win a map from stpehano in a real game that matters on maps that stephano has seen before.

Fanboy much
+ Show Spoiler +Because Drewbie is a pro at those brand new maps comparatively? Seriously, Stephano lost. Get over it. He's not infallible. Did you see him get RAPED on Metalopolis by a joke of a push in the IPL Team Arena, without even winning a single game? He played extremely poorly there too. He's a fantastic player, but it's just plain silly to think that he could never lose. He's even lost to Goody before, so he could surely lose to Drewbie. Stranger things have happened.

LOL Stephano fanboys making up excuses for why he lost? How sad and yet predictable.
He got whooped, get over it. It happens to all good players.

Relax, I actually think this guy has a point. It's just weird to use new maps in a qualification tournament for a big event, because the results will be somewhat random, since nobody knows how to play on those maps. It's just easier for a weaker player to win IN GENERAL. And since they won't use those maps in the finals, I don't see why you would use them in the qualification-tournament...
It feels like the NASL just wanted to try those maps in competitive play, but they should have used a separate tournament for this...

Am I allowed to post about HoN in this thread? If no then I'll delete this post.
This HoN game is too similar to Dota, like, pointlessly similiar in every aspect. Why the hell did they make it like this? LoL is a game on its own, with similar concepts but very different gameplay and it's own flavor. HoN is a carbon copy of Dota, why bother?

Except Dota 2 is suppose to be a carbon copy of dota since IceFrog is working on it, the current maker of dota.

What I have learned from Day9 is: "good player" and "good play" are two different things. Stephano is a (very?) good player, but he play terribly in this tourney, Drewbie deserved his win...
Please take a look at MC, he's one of the best Protoss player out there, but sometimes I can see that he play horribly bad...

Somewhat disappointing results today.

This happened in broodwar too. People bitching about new maps. Thank god the organizers are thinking about the long term instead of the short term like most fans otherwise it would take forever to get balanced maps. To host a different tournament just to test new maps is a great idea but not many organizations can justify making a new random tourney that most good players will ignore. That's a lot of time and organization. The players will thank them later when we actually have a decent map pool.

This has been argued to death, on both sides, last year.
Ever since HoN started adding it's own heroes and map / item tweaks to this day it has progressed into a game of it's own already.
If you're honestly just stumbling upon it NOW, and want to know more feel free to PM me. But if this post is just a way of you bashing HoN then it's time you move on really.

everyone has their slumps; and what we all learned is that LAN play is different from online play. koreans always get a power up at LAN play; LANS are the only thing that matter anyway.

Grubby expanded both games and had too much supply tied up in workers for Attero's one base pushes. First game was with Phoenix's I think and he caught Grubby trying to tech to DT's. Second game was, I believe, just a blink stalker push, but it was just as Grubby had got his natural up and only had one Immortal and a couple Phoenix.
Pretty much, Grubby just played really greedy.

This may not be entirely relevant to the current set of games but people should keep in mind that Stephano was a 'relative' dark horse compared to a lot of other pros when he stormed into the scene. His entry, along with some really incredible and new builds, allowed him domination for a short duration. However, now that he is known and famous and his playstyle is also better known, people will start preparing specifically for him. In addition, as his builds get figured out, his win rate would marginally drop down from the extremely high levels that they were at.
The fact that he is losing a bit more is a reflection that people consider him a major contender and are preparing specific counter builds and does not necessarily reflect on skill or a lack of it. His situation is very much akin to DRG when he stormed the scene in GSTL and was nigh unbeatable in TvZ for an extended period of time. However, once figured out, DRG is still an extremely strong Z player but no longer has the invincible TvZ aura around him.
I am personally of the opinion that Stephano is a talented good player but whether he will end up as one of the greats or end up as another top foreign player can only be determined by consistent performance over a longer period of time.

|
When will the HoN match start approximately?
|
I'm a fan of Stephano but he just played awful against Drewbie.
|
Stephano vs. Drewbie reminded me about NesTea vs HuK from the GSL 10th anniversary special match. One tried to entertain the crowd while the other played as if his life was depending on this game. Take it easy, bro.

Is the bracket being updated after the European broadcast this time too?
|
Shit, a game with frickin' Scout in it and it isn't finished before MLG starts. =( Have to watch both, todays matches are great!
