Big congratulations to Max for fourth place, Ruxin for third place, Tbeezy for second place, and Spanishiwa for his two-time UC Davis Open championship win!
Thank you to everyone who came out, helped support this event and watched our stream. It was a blast, and we can't wait until our next LAN in February.
Special thanks to UC Berkeley for their generous sponsorship of this event and for their dedication to making this LAN such a great success!
If you missed the games, do yourself a favor and watch this highlight set from the round of 8. Unbelievable.
Thank you all!

Here are some other LAN tournament basics you shouldn't forget:
- Ethernet cable, the longer the better.
- Power strip with enough outlets for your computer plus one.
- Headphones. Speakers are not allowed.
- Extension cord is a plus, circuit breaker outages are a pain.
- Routers and switches, if you have, to ensure you get connected.
- Do not bring alcohol, of any variety.
If you have any questions please post below, or feel free to contact the event coordinators Sam Vu at stvu@ucdavis.edu and Timothy Gandionco at tpgandionco@ucdavis.edu.

Looking forward to it!
Though it's too bad the prize pool took such a big hit ;;
|
|
Submitted it to the TL Calendar, should be there soon. And yeah, kinda pissed at public institutions for not giving us free rooms when there are clearly open free rooms. Instead they made us pay $600 for the ballroom. -_-;; Next time let us know if they aren't giving us the rooms so we can go and yell at them! Seriously!
|
It's on the TL Calendar! ^^
|
Haha this is SWEEEET man, I'll be there for sure, especially since hosted by our school's team!!! UCD FIGHTING!!!

i swear if we run into a similar problem like this in the future, I will seriously flip shit
|
hey there is a football home game at ucd that day, will parking still be free?
|
Parking should be free, as far as I know they use the medical area parking lot as parking for the games.
|
|
IMPORTANT PARKING UPDATE: Due to there being a football game during the same day as our event, parking plans have changed. You can still park in the main ARC lot (Lot 25), but you'll have to buy a visitor's permit (available when you enter the lot from a yellow dispenser, costs $7). Alternatively, you can park in Lots 35 (across the street), 22 (very small), or 47 (dorm lots, ~5 minute walk). Please refer to the map in figuring this out - http://taps.ucdavis.edu/parking/info/parking_map.pdf

That's a low estimate. Depending on how costs run, we should be able to raise it. Hope to see you there!

As an alumni of UCD, former BW CSL player, and former SC2 CSL manager, if you all ever need extra money for increasing the prize pool then just let me know! ^__^:b

Can I do live blogging here? =D
I was about the 70th signup this morning--the event people said I was the first girl to sign up to play, haha. Walking around, I see a few others with wristbands. Yeah!!!
I've never been to a LAN this big. The atmosphere this morning was pretty subdued, because everybody was busy setting up their computers. The tables are lovely, though -- long rows, with just enough room between them for cable messes and our chairs.
It's too bad I'm terrible (gold baby yeah): I just lost both of my matches to 4gate =D but got to shake the hand of my opponent. It was PvP and he was diamond; he told me I needed to get my gates up way faster.
I heard that they're trying to start the CSL Davis vs Berkeley match soon. They're relocating the players to another room RIGHT NOW, so that they can cast it on the projector in the main room. Here's our caster:

Here's the best picture I've gotten of the crowd so far:

There were a few problems first with internet (the wired connection wasn't very good, so now we're all on wireless), and then with power (we blew out a few circuits). The event crew is running around and got them fixed pretty fast though =D The person next to me was bummed because he was on 3 bases when our row's power cut out, so they had to restart his game... there are banelings rolling across his screen right now =D
|
all the dcing and power problems is slowing everything down so much, hope it can be fixed soon
|

|
keep up the live blogging, i'm loving it!

|
My SJSU drove two hours to attend this. We were quite impressed. We hope Davis gives us a run for our money in the final match of the preliminary season. Dare we say that Davis only remains undefeated until November 18th.
|
Internet issues aside (Blizz give us LAN!) this was a super fun event and thanks for running it! Congrats to the winners as well
|
Great event. I did better than I expected tieing for 5th. Congratz to the winners!

I was pleasantly surprised to see Davis players take the top three spots, but congratulations to CSUS and Cal for having players (you and Suppy) tie in 5th! And go Max, who placed fourth, representing Oak Ridge High School!
