I think HuK is more than able to replace MC! However, it is unfortunate to lose the "only" korean and the chance for MC vs Idra. I still think the overall quality and merit of the tournament is still amazing.

I think it's a bit sad is that in all big 8 player tournaments nearly the same foreigners are invited.
I Would love to see it a bit more mixed up even if we would have to renounce sometimes the very best players.

He did just smoke MC twice. With MC's only chance of winning in any game being a base race. And the only game he did win was pretty damn lucky.

Good news, more foreign presence in any tournament is good, especially when its the best foreigners we have to offer.

Sniper we don't know huk's or stephano's salaries and assumptions are not good arguments, that salary has not much to do with the debate either

then neither does the tournament winnings.

unless you can somehow prove that tournament prize pool directly relates to higher tournament competition.

what are you talking about? salary is not in direct immediate connection with performance. sponsors don't change salaries immediately after small periods. HuK would still earn well if he didn't win anything for 3 months, and Millenium recently outbid Col on Stephano so probably he earns well too...

the arguing was about who's more "succesful", and winnings is a way to determine that

not the only way, but certainly a way- that's why one shouldn't make statements like "huk's the most succesful". because there are more ways to decide.

im using your logic. higher salary means sponsors want that player more. and they want that player more because he is better.

now please try to explain why you think higher tournament prize pool actually makes a player better, or more accomplished.

ok i'll try to explain.

if your mommy gives you 10 cents and you steal 5 cents from your kindergarten mates, you are a worse bully than your friend who gets 5 cents from his mommy but steals 10 cents. cuz the payoff of your performance is less. comprende?

to you EG paying a lot of money equals as succesful in starcraft? Machine probably gets more money from EG than Ret from TL and who's the more succesful player? Machine?

If you read the previous pages of the thread you're pretty much the only one defending this theory that Stephano has more major tournament wins than HuK. You want to believe that nice, but the way you're arguing and repeating yourself that leads me to believe you're just trying to troll.

Huk won DreamHack, HSC and MLG (wich was the most stacked one) all 3 of them stacked with top koreans , while Stephano won IPL (impressive win but according to most pros less stacked than MLG) plus ESWC (not a huge korean presence, only 2 and he only had to face one to get to the title). If yiou want to count the number of titles Stephano won lately (counting small online tournaments), yes Stephano won more while HuK is stuck on an easy tournament called GSL Code S.

Another similar example is MC vs MVP vs Nestea: Between those 3 MVP is the most sucessful in GSL runs, he also retains rank 1 on GSL rankings, however on money won in GSL it goes 1st Nestea 2nd MC 3rd MVP 4th Polt (because he won Super Tournament wich had the biggest prize pool)

And to add to the extras, HuK is interested in always improving to be the best sc2 player he can be while Stephano spend more of his "practice time" going to da bank!

IPL3 was way more stacked than MLG. IT's not even close.

Huk, the winner of MLG, said himself that he and MC wouldn't have been able to do so well if the slayers terran were in the tournaments... they were all at IPL3.

You can't possibly compare a tournament with players like Incontrol, Drewbie, TLO with IPL3. True the open bracket of MLG was way more difficult than the open bracket of IPL3, but the pools of MLG were way behind the pools of IPL3. And since the players in the open bracket don't have a real chance in MLG, why would you count them ?

This kind of undermines your post. TheStC came 3rd and came from the open bracket.

Well, I thought theStc was the best proof of my point.
TheStC's run was way way way more impressive than Huk's, and yet he didn't win.
