Here is the recap:
Of the 4 pools:
3 had a Korean at the Top 2 had a foreigner in 2nd place 0 had Koreans at the bottom
And top 8:
5 Koreans 3 Foreigners
Top 16 10 Koreans 6 Foreigners
So... those posts about Korean domination being over seem kinda silly in hindsight. Foreigners have been doing progressively better every MLG. Look how many took series/games off Koreans compared to the past. I don't think anyone said the Korean domination is over, but it's clearly getting better. Well obviously. But it's all relative to past MLGs. There were fewer Koreans in the first MLG's and more and more have come every time, yet the foreigners do better every time. Someone posts the stats after every MLG and compares them to past events. Just keep an eye out for them, they will be tremendously better than ever before, despite more Koreans. Also, I disagree with the guy who said they the best Koreans aren't here. It doesn't get much better than Bomber, Hero, July, and Polt. Bomber is pretty much equal to MVP. well..no..bomber is not pretty much equal to MVP, hes pretty much a lock at #1 Of the players here, Bomber, HerO and Polt are tremendous players. I agree...but lets see the players who the koreans could have brought instead of latters.. Slayers_Boxer, replace with Slayers MMA ST_July replace with colMVP_DRG Inori replace with SlayersGanzi EGPuma, replace with IMMVP replace theSTC with someone like oGsNaDa/IMLosirA Fnatic Rain with Slayers Taeja HongUn Prime...any other protoss. Just theres still a vast amount of players in the pool that are better than the ones at this MLG that could make things infinitely more interesting and a nightmare towards foreigners. I'm sure foreigners will take series or two for sure but...hell of a lot more difficult HongUn compared to any other protoss? Who would you choose? Currently there are two protoss in code S, Huk and Killer. Killer is currently at IEM new york, but has not done great in other foreign tourneys. Inori had some sick PvP last week, but apparently is not consistent enough to make it through an MLG style tourney, as he lost PvP in the OWB to Ddoro, and the other protoss have apparently caught up on the PvP meta-game in the last week. Fnatic rain is an American player, as he currently resides in the USA with his parents, my understanding is that this is a permanent arrangement. Huk 2-1ed Nada in GSL August, in a fairly convincing fashion, and Nada attended the last MLG. I understand and fully believe Korea has the best players, but this is a pretty good sample. Obviously if you brought MVP, or Nestea they would win the tourney, as they are the top in the world right now by a long shot. The current sample is just a good representation of run of the mill code A or code S players. To be honest I was in a bind thinking of a player to replace HongUn then realized theres nobody doing consistently well unless its like Slayers Alicia lol and Fnatic Rain well...then that just even proves my last post about how koreans are still as dominant as ever My point is that for MLG, if the scheduling worked for the better and the players were up for it, South korea could field a lot more firepower as you seem to agree on as I dont see much of an argument about what I said :p. Obviously players like Huk and Idra can take series off of koreans, they always had the ability to for a long time now...but with a better boasted lineup...like MMA/Nestea/MVP in the mix with the additional of BomI just feel it would be more loopsided than ever before on the side of Koreans and foreigners would be very hard pressed to take series off of them than right now.
the entire argument is pointless because you can say the same exact thing for foreigners. the only time the best foreigners at the time competed against the best koreans at the time was GSL vs The World and July saved the Koreans from losing. there was a much larger skill gap then too. together, the strongest foreigners are only slightly below the above average koreans. i don't think anyone in any part of the world is as good as MVP or Nestea, they are a cut above everyone, but pretty much everyone else can be beaten on a regular basis by one top foreigner or another.
a lot of people have taken it to heart that you need to train with and around koreans to beat them, and with koreans competing in so many non-korean tournaments there is more of a skill gap between top korean ladder players and top non-korean ladders than the actual pros competing at the prestigious tournaments. that's mainly because the ones who aren't known korean pros are the unknown ones grinding games in a practice house with pros. there's still a skill gap, but foreigners around the world have given it enough effort that i don't think it will become like BW as long as everyone keeps it up.

Because he didnt take it seriously he was already first place in his group. Do you really believe sase can beat bomber in a gsl code S elimination game? Bomber started 8-0 . if he wants he can beat every protoss on earth expect a couple of korean protoss players ( like mc or hero)
Huk played against mvp last gsl and he lost 3-0. He even lost to virus.

Quick question - how does the bracket placement for MKP/Idra work? Both were 4-1 in pool play and 9-1 in terms of games, but MKP gets the WB slot over Idra - what's the determining factor? Is it because MKP came from Open and Idra was seeded in Pool play?

First yes threre was a a GSL vs World Tournament. Good job. Second, no July did not save the koreans from losing...actually he got knocked out at Ro16...by NaDa who just happened to be Korean. And like how you phrase it, you make it seem like foreigners were absolutely smashed Koreans left and right but Dimaga was the only one who took a series off a korean with a huge unexpected win over Nestea who was K.O'd by san...
Now let me move on, so I've listed my possible replacements of the current Koreans who would make the korean players participating in an MLG more brutal and infinitely stronger roster-wise. I would love to what foreigner you would have participating thatwould surely knock out Code S koreans in bo3 series. Only argument I see is Thorzain/Fenix...because hmm... Gracken? Check. Code S foreigner? Check. Code A players? Check. IPL 3 Champion? Check...I feel the best of the best are here.
REgular basis.....Hmm... How many combined series have the likes of LosirA, Taeja, Bomber, MMA, actually all the players Ive listed (mid-level to high level Code S) lost in a bo3 against foreigners regularly that isnt HuK or IdrA (...? You mean beating them on a regular basis as how MMA/Bomber/MKP have been rolling over foreigners left and right when playing semi-seriously?
There's still a skill gap yes, and its still massive. There are solid players and the training in korea is proving to be effective. Absolutely. No Doubt. The disparity in skill isnt as bad as foreigners vs koreans in the bw scene but its still not relatively close. Is it getting closer? Yes. definitely but it's still going to be a while before the skill gap is seen clearly on par and until then, like it is now, it's a pummel rolling fest for koreans

MKP beat IdrA in a head to head fashion. So he gets the tie breaker advantage.

He was referring to the team GSL vs the world tournament, where Korea won 8-7. July got 4 wins in that series, taking out White Ra, Huk, Jinro, and Moonglade before falling to Dimaga.

But huk is better than any of the koreans and playing anywheres near his normal level he will win easy. Have you ever watched Bomber's Gsl games? Huk and idra no chance against bomber. it will be pure easy wins for bomber. Just TheStC or Mc can stop him. You know how like Huk could not stop MC or god forbid code B player Sase could not stop bomber? Bomber is clearly the favorite but I would not count out Huk. Idra has a long way through some brackets before that even becomes an issue. Are u serious? Man Mc won 2 times gsl. Huk is not. Mc is x4 skiller than huk and other foreigeners. is it enough for u? but MC now is in Code B and not even code A. At the current level, HuK is better is idra coda S or coda a? But he's better than some code b and a korean zergs right? And can u say all code a players better than mc? if u say then u have no idea about mc and sc2. Comparing Huk and MC based on GSL performance, when both actively compete in the GSL seems fair. Huk has managed to stay in Code S despite how terribly Protoss players have done there, while MC has been knocked out of not only Code S, but Code A as well.
As I am sure you know, Idra was Code S before he chose to leave.

Checking the Official SOTG thread would be a good idea, but no, there was no SOTG.
