The game was 90% over once MVP scouted the roaches. At that point, Nestea knows that he can only hope MVP screws up his army control in the late game battle.
Early roaches that fail to inflict big damage in ZvT are like failed DT rushes for Protoss -- they put the person considerably behind economically.
When you have someone as good as MVP playing against Zerg, it is almost impossible for the Zerg to win unless the Zerg can hold a 3-4 base to 2 base advantage.

Anyone else really hate 3-player maps? They just feel weird, and the third base seems so insignificant that they may as well remove it and make a bigger 2-player one.

Again, it is not they don't try their best during the match. It is that they don't prepare the best they can before those matchs. BW pros do this between Pro league and individual leagues a lot. One week they will focus on OSL/MSL, the other week, they will focus on pro league, depends on importance of the matches.
