Yeah, he won games playing like that on ladder, but that's only because he was much better than his opponents, and not because it's a viable strat. If he played with the style he showed in all other games, these 2 games would've been very different. But deciding which style to play is also part of one's playstyle. I don't know man, what about his 2-1 loss to Alive in the qualifiers? Not to take any credit from Stephano who is obviously a great player. But I just find it odd.

If a Korean wins, it turns into a pointless discussion about how foreigners will never catch-up and how much exactly we should allow Koreans to play in foreigner tournaments. If a foreigner pulls off a win against tough odds, people still talk about irrelevant stuff like how well he would perform in GSL, how Koreans he played were mediocre at best (it's not his fault, he 4-0ed a guy who 3-0ed MMA), and trying to discredit his win. Just enjoy the awesome tournament we got to spectate, despite its technical difficulties at times, and the sheer amazing plays that Stephano displayed for us. Live with it and move on.

Its kind of funny, but reading half these post I realize these ppl haven't even watched the game! Yet they're trying to talk as if they know something? W got some sad trolls her. Idra in IEM Guangzhou and to a lesser extent, Naama in DH Winter? Stephano is amazing, but saying the way you said it kind of insults other players and people in general.

Considering the skill difference and commitment difference between Koreans and foreigners we have managed to win more major tournaments than anybody could have predicted. You could actually argue that the Koreans are underachieving considering their decade head start on infrastructure and their gaming houses...

From my perspective, this cycle of overhyping one messiah only to abandon him and move onto another is pretty unhealthy. Stephano had a great tournament and is obviously a top player, but him beating mid-tier Koreans, (yes, they are mid-tier, because they have not shown to be consistently top-tier -- this should be an easy concept) in one tournament isn't any kind of proof that he's the greatest European player, or whatever else people are saying. While some are trying to discredit Stephano maliciously, that doesn't mean the points raised by others aren't legitimate. Really? Is every north american contaminated with ignorance now? Do you know anything about the european scene? Stephano is winning absolutely everything and european players are miles ahead of NA players, so Stephano is obviously the best foreigner, how can you even doubt that? You should watch some EU tournament streams or his own stream and stop being so goddamn ignorant. you call people out for discrediting his win and then do exactly the same and it's all based on typical north american ignorance, it's not just americans I've made the experience that canadians can and actually are a million times more ignorant than americans, there's just so few of them that nobody usually cares about them.

I've always seen Stephano mostly as a ZvP guy. I mostly notice him from tournies for taking out top protosses, but he showed he's great in every matchups. The list of top players was really impressive at IPL, he took out Huk, Kiwikaki, Violet, TheSTC and Lucky, among others. I think everybody would have liked to see him vs MMA, but it didn't happen. STC is still really solid TvZ. It's really cool to see one more guy that always does good in tournaments get his first big win. Hopefully he builds up on it!

I wish they release the replays so that I can directly compare the Idra and stephano, with my protoss-eyes-for-zerg-guys. I compared Idra's replays with DRG's (from DH) and I could say with confidence that Idra is below DRG when it comes to multitasking/macro/micro.

Well huk homestory kind of overlaps with huk Dreamhack because the biggest criticism (from slasher at least) was that huk did not beat MC or bomber at dh but he made up for it at Homestory if that makes any sense. It also proved that he is consistently a badass.
