eh? Shouldn't it be division 1 being cast? Lowely vs Vibe, Demulism vs Hero, Fenix vs Cruncher?
Dont' take Demuslim vs Hero from me!

Demu vs Hero is gonna be so good

It'll be interesting to see HoN with some production values but then I realised it's at 360p and HoN looks utter shit at anything under 720.

is cruncher still playing? i'm aware these games were played a while ago, but will he still play in future weeks?

Yay HoN :D EZ fighting, will watch :>

lowely 2-1 vibe hero 1-2 demuslim lag 0-2 cruncher

Is Cruncher actually going to play given he basically quit SC2 recently? What about the rest of the season, as it was made clear that he will be focusing on school instead of practicing.

Come on Demuslim! If he wins this, he's got a a great chance to just roll the rest of the group.

Weeee, Sheth casting! Let's go HerO... crush face for Aiur! Edit: DANGIT. NO HERO GAME.

Hero vs demuslim will not be played... story of me staying up to watch quality protoss matches at NA broadcast times......

Wait, why no Hero vs Demuslim?

Great split from Vibe to stop that baneling attack from doing much damage.

I just want this series to be over quickly, HerO vs Demuslim should be AWESOME.

Agreed. thegunrun is especially quiet. Not a huge fan of him as a caster. Doesn't really have a voice for it, unless NASL is being commentated in the library.

I don't understand NASL's thought process on anything, ever. "Be sure to keep the stream open after the games so you can listen to people talk about HoN but not actually see anything!" Where do you people get these ideas? What makes you think they're good?
|
|
Hmm. I haven't been following NASL, so I apologise if this was already covered, but why is NASL using the censored version of SC2?

Definitely low-level play from Lowely. Game two was low-level from Vibe I think too (mutas? meh). Game one I thought Vibe played well.
2-0 Vibe easy.

What's wrong with mutas? They are used all the time in ZvZ now. I'd say 50% of my zvz games in master league see muta use now.
@Savern101: I didn't think about that, but there is actually a fairly high chance that you're right.

These matches are played 1-2 weeks ago or even more. NASL could have posted the walkover information in the OP before they started broadcasting. Some of us waited to see the match, which just wasted our time.

That's probably the main reason why they don't announce walkovers in advance. They know that some people might not tune in, if the match they were interested in didn't happen. The event isn't live, the only reason to hold back the announcement of walkovers, is to not lose viewers.

And yeah, it's pretty bullshit they don't tell us. I guess they're thinking "WELL WE WANT THEM TO TUNE IN", but pissing off your viewers doesn't seem a good idea, even if it temporarily increases your view count.

oh fuck that was a sexy move there with the workers blocking the zlots in the line

That could of gone so much better for cruncher. He almost trapped a bunch of marines in with those FF and those zealots from the warp prism did absolutely nothing due to repair and Cruncher not paying attention to them.

I actually think all the games have already been played by now. Or at least most of them. Considering Cruncher has retired, and I doubt he'd retire if he'd made the NASL season 2 finals, some of the tension is already gone.

According to Axslav NASL matches are played almost a month in advances. Hence the Warp Prism shield being pre-patch and the DeMusliM was probably when he went to Oregon on vacation and maybe wasn't able to reschedule.

cruncher has always had super sick pvt. I still remember how in the TL open he won, he beat stephano with some cheesy strats and everyone hated on him a ton and then they loved him after seeing his pvt games against fenix.

Complexity stated that he's going inactive now, but he'll be under contract until january 2012 when the said K expires. Yeah, it's pretty insane that they do it a month in advance. I can't watch prepatch games. Just seems like waste of time.

Well that game was lame lol.
gg.
|
SCV football reference was the best part of that game.
|
silly fenix this isnt tvz
|
I really hope Cruncher wins now.
|
2rax marine all in is more powerful and easier to execute against protoss than tech/terror rush against China was in CnC Generals, which was nearly always an insta-win. u so gosu, Fenix.
|
Was that nexus first from cruncher?
|
Typical terran. Lose macro game, herpa derp pull scvs all in next game. I see that korean training has really helped Fenix.
|
I hope all NASL games was not pre-record..

I can not believe that i am going to miss the HoN showmatch, i have a practice exam to go to! f@#$, i better be back in time

I know they don't cast at the same time, i just hope ALL last game (Week 8 ?) was pre-patch.

I prefer when Gretorp casts with another commentator... especially someone who's very lively.

How can Fenix's delay be that much worse than the Koreans who topped their groups last season?

I thought most of the houses had VPNs and such setup to make the lag less pronounced. I wonder if IM doesn't since their members don't seem to play many foreign online tourneys.
On the topic of the game though dear lord Fenix needs ravens. Every time he moves out at all 1 DT just comes in, kills a shit-ton of marines and then he's forced to pull back.

If Fenix leaves NASL and Cruncher is going inactive, this division is going to be really weird.

lol Fenix finally getting a raven.
Ya think?

fenix may not have heard of the raven judging by this game.

Cruncher played well but I was expecting more out of Fenix. Given what he said earlier in the thread, that might help explain some of it. Not the best matches to watch as far as I was concerned.

Fenix is getting goood, but cruncher really abused his race. =((( Go Fenix!!

Terrible Demuslim was a no show, only match worth watching tonight. Why doesn't nasl tell us that it's not going to happen?

Fuckin' A
I not only thought Fenix would take it, but he'd stick Cruncher's head down a toilet and flush it too. This is an unexpected turn of events.

You actually explained it yourself. If they announce in advance that certain anticipated matches didn't happen, some people will not bother tuning in for that night and they lose viewers.
People have been complaining about this for months since S1, but NASL has been pretty adamant about it.
|
Won't make viewers happy in the long run either.

Ya, but it gives viewers like me all the more reason to have no interest in supporting them, at least not for the weeks before the finals where no shows were repeatedly not mentioned to the viewers ahead of time. They clearly didn't care about our time last season, only that we were tuning in to watch, and it seems that is still the case.
I honestly don't mind just checking the results and watching the finals with all the other good content even though I watched on a regular basis last season.
Edit: Hopefully I am not coming across as overly-dramatic. I am not saying it is a huge deal or that they are terrible people, but they clearly saw that it was angering people last season and continue to do it, so I personally do not want to support that. I'm not looking to flame the NASL or anything like that.

I agree with you completely. It's disrespectful to the viewership to lie through omission about their matches. They know the matches aren't happening ahead of time yet purposefully don't inform the viewers. It's moves like this that causes me to pass over watching NASL in lieu of other plentiful SC entertainment I can be watching instead. I don't care if a match isn't going to be played but it's fairly irritating to expect a match then have it be a walk-over with no notice. I've been not tuning in and probably won't until the finals because I'd rather just not deal with feeling irritated. It's a shame since NASL seemed to have improved their production so much since season one...it's going to waste on me.

It's like advertising for a free concert by Aerosmith and a few other random less popular pop stars (with special premium front row seat for money), and then JUST before the concert start, they announce that Aerosmith can't make it when they knew weeks ahead of time. Basically, increasing their own revenue (from sponsor advertisements and other sources) at the expense of the customers is unethical, and will definitely leave them a bad rep. Good business always puts customers first, and NASL isn't really doing a good job at it.

It's kinda weird, last season the games where played 1-2 days before the broadcast so it was very hard to reschedule stuff. But with 3-4 weeks of time between the Matches and the Broadcast they should be able to reschedule matches to avoid no shows? I thought the delay was to prevent Walkovers.
With walkovers + games that are about a month old there is like no reason to turn in during group play for me :/ A bit sad that the situation became worse than s1, at least for me.
At least one can hope the offline/live final makes up for it again :/

Wow did not know the games were that outdated... I thought it was a few days at most. Wtf, that's pretty sad, does it really take that long to get their shit together? That kills a lot of the excitement for me, the meta game, players play/momentum and even patches can change a lot in a month. I think you also kind of miss the fact of most of the time the walkovers occur because there wasn't any preemptive notion to reschedule. One player obviously came to play, the other didn't show and didn't say anything beforehand to try to make an effort to reschedule. Not only is that extremely disrespectful to the league (and is a fine), it's EXTREMELY disrespectful to the player who waited 45 minutes only for you not to show up and essentially waste their time. I'm willing to assume players have the option to reschedule or receive the walkover win and 9 times out of 10 the player will take the walkover. Yes, recording early was to help IF there was a situation that two players couldn't make it one day and they agree on another day to do it (which happens quite a few times I bet, just no one notices, because as far as the viewer knows it was played on the scheduled date).
I think it's hard to argue that this is as large of an issue as it was last season when there were walkovers literally every other day due to the recording-to-broadcast turn-around constraint.
|
So glad I didn't stay up too watch last night, was thinking about it as due to the lure of DeMuslim vs HerO. Rather annoying they don't tell you beforehand, but they would lose alot of views. Rather disappointed in DeMuslim and EG for not making sure he could turn up, could of rescheduled it before hand maybe if he knew he wouldn't be able to.

NASL. I enjoy the show and its certainly not your fault DeMuslim couldn't make the match. I wont comment on the noshow until I have heard Benjamin's side of the story.
However, its simply not right you advertise an event 'DeMuslim v Hero' right up to the last moment when you know its untrue. To get a few extra viewers for 45 minutes + replays I guess, compared to risking your customer bases ire seems fuzzy logic and has been stated previously unethical.
Would like an apology and a committment to not repeating it.
Thank you

Just want to apologise to those who showed up to watch the matches expecting me to be there. I tried to reschedule a few days before the match as "something" came up - i didn't get a response back, my message went through so i assumed things were fine. I received a phone call minutes before my match was to be played saying i'd be walkovered if i didn't play within the next 30 minutes. Well - i was in a different country and a plane journey away from my PC. - I then got told rescheduling isn't allowed unless it's a major tournament, i should have looked through the rules and made sure for definite, but without getting a response i assumed everything was fine ( i asked for the game to be played just a few days later ). And of course, i'm not allowed to announce to people any results, and warn them to not show up in advance as to not waste their time, i was kind of in a bad position, so i do apologise to those who showed up and wanted to see the games, i couldn't have prevented that from happening given NASL ruling. Sorry.

Sounds like NASL need to get their act together. Not responding to you earlier, and still getting Hero to turn up, as well as LYING to everyone watching... Its just going to lose trust. Shame, as I thought NASL2 really improved over season 1. You better win the rest of your games Ben, you deserve top spot Div 1.

What the hell? How is NASL 2 not considered a major tournament? NASL really needs to learn that they need to accommodate players a little bit more than they currently are.

Well, as much as I like DeMu, it is still partially his fault.
The worst part though would have been getting Hero to stay up, I'm a little disappointed they didn't tell him. Other than that you can't find that much fault with what NASL did, they should've responded more quickly as well but the rules were available for DeMu to see.
EDIT: I do highly appreciate that DeMu posted in this thread though. Many props.

Thanks for the reply and clarification DeMuslim. NASL really should be trying to do rescheduling where possible, especially seeing as this is one of the most anticipated and important matches of the season, such a shame it didn't get played and they wasted HerO's and viewers time.

lol @ the drama queens in this thread saying they won't support NASL anymore because of this. Honestly, it's not a big deal at all. You missed out on one series - boo hoo. No need to be so sensitive.

"Regarding the DeMuslim Walkover and NASL Reschedules"
About a day prior to his match, DeMuslim messaged NASL in regards to not being able to make his match.
What normally happens when a player requests a reschedule is that we immediately contact the other party to notify them and try to find an appropriate time for a reschedule. We then go back to the player requesting the reschedule and verify the time. After this process has occurred, we officialize the time, and send an email to both players confirming the reschedule. Players are aware of this and know that a reschedule has not occurred until they receive that email. A lack of any response from us should indicated that a follow up is needed because we always respond to such notices.
Numerous players' schedules have been accommodated through this process.
What had happened in DeMuslim's case is that his message had not gone through, as later confirmed by one of the EG managers. Because he only attempted to contact us once (the message failed to go through) and did not follow up, we had no way of knowing he would not make his match. When his match started and he was not there, we contacted his manager and some of his teammates to get in contact with him, but were unsuccessful.
We (NASL and HerO) waited the required 45 minutes, after which a walkover was issued.
More than anything, it's an unfortunate and unlucky circumstance for everybody involved, but such is the case in the modern world where technology isn't always 100% reliable.
Nevertheless, we wish DeMuslim the best in the rest of the league and all his other tournament endeavors.

Sigh. DeMuslim says a few days before. NASL says the day before. Demuslim says the message went through. NASL says the message didn't go through.
Maybe if NASL didn't constantly show the need to disparage players when match conflicts arose in order to make themselves look the victim, I would believe them. But that's not the case so I am going to believe Demuslim.

it being a few days (which can be 2) or it being just 1 day can be a result of timezone differences (not sure which country he was in).
I like how NASL wrote quite a long statement and didn't cover why they didn't tell people beforehand that that match was a forfeit though - it's really not very honest to keep people excited.

Super mannered response. I think you both will make the playoffs easily, so perhaps we'll get to see this match then!

Agree that if it was known three days ago, keeping the match on the schedule is disingenuous. Given that these games are recorded so far in advance and SC2 players are great people, were there no other exceptional rescheduling options?
Seems a bit of a case of rules and miscommunication getting in the way of user experience. People are paying for matches and with such an anticipated one, a 'can-do' approach might have made it work for everyone. Kudos to DeMuslim for letting people know at the earliest he could.

A majority of games are not filmed very far in advance, we have done it with a few matches in order to accommodate people's busy schedules (especially in October).
Also I want to apologize for not announce walk overs prior to matches... I will make sure that we announce whether a match will be a walk over from now on. Thanks again <3!

Did you miss the part where they said that EG confirmed the message didn't go through? Not flaming you - it was an easily missed part of the comment.
This is obviously just a misunderstanding and miscommunication.

Aw man, so sad the most exciting match of the day wasn't played ...
Also, Cruncher beating Fenix! I just missed the first match, was it any good? Edit: Crunchers really likes his DTs!
|
I always thought Fenix was good at crisis handling. This was painful to see!! I am Dissapoint! And using the viking to scout when the prism was dropping DTs in the main for the 5th time. Zomg....
