That or he was just making lots of silly mistakes , wich is uncharacteristic of him. We dont ever really get to See much of his TVZ though, it could be the reason he never did well in korea though besides that one time in the team leagues. I wouldnt be surprised. If he had to go against revival instead of JYP he may not have even made it out of the quarters (and idra probably wouldnt have either if he had to face JYP)
Either way some very uncharacteristic mistakes from Puma, made me think he wasnt trying that hard or something, at least thats how it felt when i was watching it. Idra played well though. He just played a passive style, the only game where he was clearly making mistakes was game 3 when he kept leaving his depo down IMO. I don't really like the 1 rax cc into 2 fact BF hellion build though. no ghosts in game 2 was a huge mistake. from what eco? ghosts don't grow on trees ya know... Yes i agree that you should counter broods with ghosts, but you need a few of them for that to work (meaning you need at least 1 per brood, usually you need 2 per, meaning you either start when you scout his greater spire morphing or you have the eco to build 5 ghosts at the same time). This man is correct ^^. Puma simply didn't have the economy, there was something like a 10 minute stretch where puma was only on <30 scvs and only 1 real mining base
I just watched the rep and he actually sat on 19 SCVs for almost the last 15 minutes of the game

I was extremely surprised Puma didn't go for IdrA's demise build, which is mass hellion on early game. In all 3 games he went for a flat 4 hellions to gain that early map control. But nothing more. Puma was deadly with his drop play, but imagine if those drops had hellions...
Still, amazing series and a well deserved win for IdrA.

Idra is a fucking pro. Not many people thought he could beat puma. He rocked our sc2 world.

The vods will be posted in a couple days.

I must say I do like it when Idra decides he's good. Should do that more often. Useful skill toi have.

Congratulations IdrA!!!
Also, I haven't seen either the idra vs puma or the finals matches yet, and I've searched on ESL for over 40 minutes. Good lord why are these VODs so hard to find? Would anyone mind linking the vods for me and a few other people who have been asking please?

Vods of the semifinals and finals don't exist yet. They'll exist when the IEM crew gets back to Europe.

Congrats Idra but you need to improve late game macro. Watched the Tal'darime game vs. Puma and you inject larvae like once every 5 minutes.

Whoa, I forgot all about this competition (missed all 4 days ). Pretty amazed to see idra won, but congrats idra! :D

I watched the replay. He didn't need larva late in the game, he had enough hatches, he wouldn't have had the money to support that many larva w/ constant injects and he was using the queens to heal his broods when needed and drop tumors both of which where more important to the game than having extra larva.

He did need the larva.
There were countless times where he was not maxed, floating 1.5 to 2k minerals, starved on gas, and only producing broodlord/corruptor/infestor, and puma's army was seriously gimped and he was barely holding onto expansions by the skin of his teeth.
He had the money to pop out 60 lings which absolutely will kill a PF that is not defended by an army (watch the replay and look at puma's 6 o'clock and 3 o'clock expansions and how vulnerable they were).
idra only ever makes 3 queens, and in this game he brought them with his army for a broodlord doom push, but ended up sending them back home. I really think that adding more queens and macro hatches in his late game to give him the capability of producing a wave of 120 lings after a big battle would help a lot in games like this. At the end, he wins the game when he finally starts up ling production again and is able to poke at puma's expanions with lings.
I don't mean to take anything away from idra's victory, but I felt like it would have come a lot faster if he was just like "ok I make lings now you die"
|
Exactly, Oboeman. It's when those lings pop Idra did took back the map control. Before that he totally forgot about injects thanks to Puma's awesome harass, and he basically lived off of naturally spawning larvae from hatcheries.

Does the winner of IEM really get a Code A spot?
